I think that the Model A brake drums will be a problem for 16" solid rims. The 16 inch wires will work. If you go to hydraulic brakes, you will switch out the drums. Someone will clarify this I am sure.

  7. Solid rims with stock model A mechanical brake drums is definitely a BIG PROBLEM. The solution is to grind down the raised are on the drums (which I hate to do) or get an adapter ring. The problem can be seen at: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=8330045&highlight=stephens#post8330045

Yeah, i know it's not a sedan but,Borg Warner torque tube over drive,411 gears, juice brakes,in the middle of an insert, full pressure, insert, counterbalanced 7 to 1 compression banger.35 wires,7.50 and 600 16 reverse front eyes, mod spring back nothing irreversible! Lots of fun! 70 mph with basically stock motor. Was cheap and easy, xcept engine, and some time spent. Get it to sit right, and pick away while you drive it! Congratulations. A boners coupe is awesome too!

nice car! i like the look of the car. paint scheme etc. i would pull off the bumpers, ahooga, put on some 16" wires and find a few old speed parts for the banger.

This is the perfect 28-29 Ford look to me, the 16" wheeld fit the front fenders perfectly. Hot Rods without hoods look broken to me. Bob [IMG]

I'm thinking brakes and wheels to get started.

I may be wrong, but with the color of the car, you can't go to extreme with anything.

Fenders, unchopped is where it needs to stay. Tires and wheels, stance is probably the only thing you really can do to it.

I heard about that car from Bill & Matt asking what I thought about it. I think it was a killer deal.

I think it is one of those that you do what you have in mind, anything more and you might as well go all in and make it bad ass, thus ruining what you have.

I have only sold one A out of 15 because it was too nice. I regret it still that I didn't just do a few simple details. I am still in contact with the owner and am trying to work a deal to get it back.

This car definately falls in the keep it simple catagory looks wise.

BUT hop that banger up and make it go 55......and get there waaaay quicker.

The other thing I would do is really consider the Clings adapter and put in a V8 trans.

In driving my banger A's, the motor is not a hindrence to me, it is the bullshit trans and the crappy gear splits,(which is compounded by the taller tires). All I had to do is drive my Flathead 39 boxed roadster one time to know that I don't think I will do another banger A for myself and keep the stock trans.

    Go pick up some chicks!

If you plan on going any distances with it out on the freeways upgrade the brakes (Might be cheaper to do discs than old ones )& buy an overdrive unit for it if only for a parade or in town "LEAVE HER ALONE"

I respectfully disagree on the colour limiting things. I've seen two full blown chopped and channelled fenderless A's in that colour combo. Both looked killer. That said, this car shouldn't go that way.

No problem at all, do you have pics of the others? It might help someone else in deciding which way to go.

I think you, I, and Shane all agree, on this car the less major changes, the better.
