Technical Identify Ford Brakes

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by ct1932ford, Dec 2, 2013.

  1. I am trying to identify the brakes on the 32 Coleman Coupe. It has been said they are Ford F-150. Anyone know for sure what year and model these are?? The shoes are 2" wide. Spent the day at local parts house with no luck (big surprise). Thanks for any help. I will also need a supplier for some hardware. Thanks Again

  2. The drums are 12" Buicks. I was going by an article written about the cars some years back.

Look at a early 50s Lincoln rear shoe

  7. Well it looks like they may be 1955 3/4 ton F 250. going to check it out!

  8. Right now just new spring kits! I was just given the numbers by a Hamber. They are 55 F250 brakes! Thanks Mark

That looks like a #62 shoe set.

  10. Maybe set #33 since they have the reinforcing plates on the upper part of the shoes.

All Ford 1/2 ton pickups used the same brake shoes from 1948 to 1966. These are 2" shoes on the front. I use them on the rear too.
12" X 2" shoes are used on the 71-76 Chevy BIG wagons

They look to be F-150 brakes. If so,
    5 x 51/2" bolt pattern. Takes 11" drums, 2" wide shoes.
Could have come off of any truck up to 1997, maybe later

He said he's using 12" Buick drums, and that they've been determined to be F-250 plates. DD

  15. Anyone ever see these Safety Hubs before?? Maybe Homemade! Also the rear backing plates are modified fronts.

Mark, Those safety hubs look like the ones I got from Bill Smith years ago for use on "Alley Oop". Don't know if they are a Speedway catalog item, or something in his Vintage parts collection, they were a swap for photos of one of his enginers. Bob [IMG]
