Thanks Gbrown, yes I did the jig by my self. Best thing with it is that I can hook it up to a car and take it for a ride (in case I for some strange reason wants to ;)

Glad you like it , lets hope it turn's out super :)

Brady , you should become a Cheerleader ;) thanks a lot mate !!!

Now that is a piece of work. Are you using a stock (curved) or 40 (straight) spring? You must have some serious break to bend that 3/16 plate.

Rear crossmember in place (just tacked for now). The last welding of the box plates have also been done, so now its time to get the rear axel in place and start with the x-member.

That sucker is gonna be low in the rear I had to raise my 5 window 2'' but that was a 32 spring and c notches in stock rails with a flatened rear 32 cross member I guess we are in the same club my chassis jig has a removable axle where I can push it out becase it takes up to much room and a trailer tounge where my buddies can use it !!

Rear axle tacked in place and ladder bars being mounted. The shape of the x-member cut in cardboard, time to start working on it.

X-member in peaces, cut in water jet. The large holes are for the exhaust.

Awesome looking chassis so far! Love the frame jig too, keeps the frame work straight and true.

Yes, you have a great start on your chassis. New ideas and excellent craftsmanship make this thread worth following.

    Thanks a lot Guy's.

Here is the way I do for welding box plates and other chassis parts.
The pics shows the 3mm x-member.

When tacking I put the plates inside edge to inside edge and get a L-shape and thats ofcorse is where the weld will go.

When welding I'll get a radius for free :)

The point with this method is that there is very little grinding needed and the weld is still there.

Othervise when welding a thin spring and then grinding radius you will end up with cracked parts.
My english sucks big time but I hope you guys understand.

What do you do to the inside of the joint? I would think a little of the bead would bubble through on the inside. Do you run a bead inside as well, or just grind the bits that pop through?

    Exactly Alchemy.
Grind the inside off and making a small radius with bondo before paint.

    Thanks Brady.
Things getting forward slowly . Started on the centersection for the x-member.
Made a press tool for the top plate , the material is 3mm thick so it needed loads of preassure tho press it.
