I like the view looking out over the injector stacks. Cool picture.

I agree cool picture of both cars perspective. That is Sox and Martin of course. The cars coming in and leaving on open trailers was always a cool sight as well-Jim

The Gasser is out for paint, here are a few pictures.
My extra hood was a disaster so the big mess is it being massaged to get it to fit properly.
Other then the hood everything else was pretty much ready for block sanding.
I just had my shoulder operated on so I had to let my buddy block and paint the car. At least that's a good excuse....

That is a great stage to be at. Nice work on the rear flares. Look forward to seeing it painted.

We are thinking about what if any lettering to put on the 57 Gasser.
One question is if we were back in 1970, what NHRA class(es) would the car run in?
I don't remember when they changed the classes that the Corvettes and others ran in.
Assuming 377CU, Hilborn Injection, 4 speed, straight axle, Olds rear and about 2900 pounds .
    Modified Sports, Gas, or ??
    Any suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks

The last year for modified sports was 1967. I believe Sam Gianino's 57 Vette had a 377 cubic inch small block injected and he ran D/G in the late sixties. I believe the last year he ran the car (before switching to Mopars) was 1970 and he ran D/G and some D/A. Some say he ran altered because he pushed the rules too far although I believe he did it by choice. He wanted the option to run both and he even had D/A removable stickers made up if I remember correctly.-Jim

In 1969, 2900 lbs with a 377 motor would have put you in B/Gas (6.50-7.99 lbs per cu in).

One more question, 2900 pounds with a 337 CI engine.
Thats 8.61 lbs per cu in so probably C/Gas?
What about modified sports classes, were they still being used by NHRA ?
    Thanks in advance.

Ohiovette, you wouldn't have a few close up shots of your efi hilborn set up, I'm about to start on one myself

Now I am wondering how large Gianino's engine was. I thought it was larger than it obviously was. The numbers are correct from the rule book. Now I wonder how many B/G Vettes were running large small blocks?

Thanks ohiovette, that's great, nice setup, if you could snap some shots of the "efi" parts of the swap that would be sweet. Where do you find injector fittings like those?

I posted some more pictures in my profile of the 62 Corvette.
The adapters used on the stock GM injectors are made by Fran Olson of Fox Engineering, Google Fox Engineering and his contact info is available. Fran is a great resource and did my machine work.
If you can PM me with your email I can send you some pictures which are on my other computer.
What do you plan to use for the ECU, I used Megasquirt it is great and affordable.

Haven't decided what ECU to use yet, I have a Microtech one on my drag car, being Australian made makes getting advice and parts much easier, and it works great, but I'm open to all suggestions.

I just added a bunch of close up pictures .
Contact me if you have any questions and started a HILBORN Album..

I would use a ECU that you can source locally. Since you have a Microtech now it would probably be a good choice.

Smoken Bill were? and how much is the damage for a pair of those Hurst front runners I am new to this game but I dig those tires. I am running 165 radials in front of L-50s they just dont fit the glove snugg.

More paint progress on the 57 Gasser.
Next step is to prime it gray over black over white and then do the final block sanding without going through to the white.
    Then seal and paint BC/CC.

Really looking good. Are you going to paint the top of the dash semi-gloss black or same color as car ? BC/CC ..base coat/clear coat?

That looks great! The trick will be putting everything back together without scratching it.

We used Sikkens paint and DuPont clear.
I hope to have it done this summer.
I'm setting the car up for the street but racing is not out of the question.
I have a George Montgomery built blower motor, Mondello Heads and some 5.14 Olds gears so I can build it to race without to much trouble.
