55 chevy wiper transmission

    When looking for another it seems they come in a left and a right. How do you tell them apart ? I have one but don't know which one. Thanks

  5. The left wiper transmission has an "L" on the shaft. The right wiper transmission has an "R" on the shaft.

    see above + left trans part number will end with an odd number & rt side will be even

    also when installed the left side cables should cross each other to allow the left arm to park pointing in

    whilst reading in the 1955 shop Manual...
    Body 1-3 and page body 1-4
    it says ...
    CAUTION: Cross right transmission drive cables and install
    to drum"A," install left transmission drive cables (not crossed) to drum "B"(fig. 3)


    yer left yer left yer left right left solder...

    its all good


    while looking under the dash... the drum closest to the firewall is drum A,
    the drum further away , or better said the inside one.
    The other one is drum B.
