Bit of progress on the car this weekend. Last week I was modifying and getting my planishing hammer ready to be used as well. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1382820869.641984.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1382820882.267900.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1382820897.597672.jpg

Beautiful work man!!! Love the planishing hammer... I need to make myself a new one. What are you using for the hammer?

Thanks ryan, I am using a quality IR air chisel. Will be using this hammer for smoothing and planishing.

We will have to finally meet at some point. Come check out your 53.

Waiting on my new hardened dies to show up, then i can put everything back together and i will post some pics for you.

    Thanks a lot dude!

ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1382899409.754877.jpg Teaser shot of my rear seat setup. Decided to throw it in to see how much im gonna have to modify. Lower bench needs major modifications to fit properly. Nice to put it in though to take a look. I love it!

Those T-Bird seats look right at home in there. Looks luxurious enough that I'd want to ride around in the backseat more often then the front.

Amazing progress bro !!! Love looking at this build for inspiration. Haha to the horsepower thing . I think you're the wrong person to ask since this looks like a full Kustom not a street rod or a race car.

Thanks man! This car isn't gonna have a crazy motor. All I want is enough power to cruise comfortably as I wanna put a ton of kilometers on the car. Building it to cruise and enjoy as a cool custom.

Some progress this week. Started laying out and getting my brake pedal assembly ready to install. Needed to be able to mount it to the firewall. Using inspiration from a tech article in rod and custom, I built two 1/4" aluminum firewall plates that would be bolted to the firewall. I lathed up some tapped bungs to weld to the firewall to spread the load over a greater area. I will be tying the brake into the dash structure as well. Going to use the passenger side one fore my a/c unit and hopefully room on one for my fuse box. Makes things easy to access and modify if need be without touching the firewall itself.

Thanks dude. Should keep the coupe! Just be careful if you do chop it as they can't be chopped too much or they look horrible.

Haha, we don't have enough space. That caddy will be getting done after the chevy is finished. It's so long I'm not sure if it will even fit in the garage.

Just finished reading your thread end to end. Took forever because of the excellent detail. Kicking myself for selling my 52 without ever building it now. Great work! Congrats on the marriage. I'll be following along.

Got my brake assembly installed in my car last weekend. Worked out really well and is super strong with it tied into the dash.

Worked on my trunk gaps today, both sides needed a lot of work but got some really good progress today. Drivers side needs a bit more work to be at a point where I am happy.

What did you do to tighten your gaps?

    Thanks!

    Thank you!

Chris, for tightening gaps you want to add metal to the edge of your trunk. I used the appropriate sized rod and TIG welded it to the edge where the gaps were too big and metal finished afterwards. Where the gaps were too tight I had to cut the trunk back then reweld the edge as you lose the folded edge and your inner and outer trunk skins come loose.
