Just ask your self what you like best, then go with that. There is not much you could do with header finish that would look out if place other than ceramic coating.

No matter what color you choose - it will burn and discolor. How about Red Oxide?

Seriously though, did any "60's era" hot rod actually have these? Seems like "2000's" kind of thing...

The 60's was about the show cars go with chrome and then let the engine heat do its magic!

Only if you put it on wrong or are running lean. I'm going on a year and 9,000 miles and mine are still looking good.

You guys had headers in the sixties? The only headers I saw in the sixties were in magazines.

A buddy of mine said in the 50s he would soak the bare headers in automatic Tracy fluid
And start it up and the oil would "burn on " and will not rust , I am thinking of trying this on my roadster , he said it will turn a nice medium brown !

Go crazy. Porcelain Industries in Dickson, TN. Have em done in white porcelain. It's pretty affordable really, and if they're new consider doing some form of ceramic on the inside and they'll last for at least a dozen years. Nobody else has gone back to that treatment and I have no plans for that style in the foreseeable future so screw it, throwin it out there. Race cars did it long ago as did higher end production cars. Be brave, white porcelain!!!

Ceramic coating is very nice and while it may not be an old time procedure for coating headers it is rediculous to say that it should not be an option.
I will be ceramic coating my lakes headers for the RPU along with the entire exhaust system.

  29. Not pink, that would have gotten you an ass beating and left for dead, back in the day.
