So I bought this car yesterday. Not only is it my first "Vintage" car, but it's also my first American car. The story starts about 10 weeks ago when I moved my VW/Audi Performance and Repair shop next door to Grunion Customs. I see a lot of very cool cars go in and out of their pretty much daily. Perhaps I needed a break from my usual genre or maybe I was just bit by the bug.. but I started seriously looking for a 54 Chevy 3100 when I saw this truck at his shop. Then I have to stare at Grunion's Buick all day out the window to my office.. Then he starts asking "When are you gonna get a cool car?.. So the other day he says.. I know where theres a 1950 Buick Special.. and the rest is history .. here's my car.
Back to my original question.. I need a replacement mechanical fuel pump and water pump for a 4.1L Straight 8... where should I look Sorry the pics are out of order.. first post and all
Good luck with that '50 - I buy parts for mine at Bob's Buick Automobilia Atascadero, CA 805-434-2963 www.bobsautomobilia.com He has a lot of stuff and always treats me fairly. Has a catalogue, too. Willi
I live out in east mesa and I got a '50 Olds sedanette 303, stick and I bought parts at Arizona Vintage Parts. 602-495-1800, they're at 3120 W. Grand ave. Phoenix Wolf
If you have a NAPA warehouse in the area go there and find someone who still knows how to use a book, Computer is a french world for lost or delayed.
I just picked up a 50 Buick Sedanette a couple of months ago. Working on it to get it to run. I bought a rebuild kit from Egge Machine Company (www.egge.com) or you can get parts from Kanter Auto Proucts www.kanter.com. They are not cheap. Napa Auto Parts has parts to, but you need to talk to somebody that knows how to use a book.
That would be about 248 cu. Sounds about right. Forgive him he is a VW/Audi guy. Now he will have to put away his metric wrenches
I pulled the water and fuel pump today and managed to do it with a 13mm and 14mm . Waitin for my Mac guy to come up so I can get my beginners SAE.
ha-ha... litres are for coke and pepsi. we speak cubic inches around here. I drove Dastsuns for 20 years, all I needed was a 10, 12 and 14mm and I could fix anything
I drove it home last night .. Everything works.. the radio, gauges, Needless to say, I'm pretty stoked right now...
Good call!! They had both pumps - the car runs great. Napa on the other hand had squat - they listed the parts but did not stock them anywhere.
