I will start this off and I hope I'm in the right place here regerding the Traditional Hot Rods stuff. Here's two 1/8 scale scratch builds I am finishing up.
Very impressive as always, O.S.! I don't have any progress photographed this week, but here are a couple survivors found on ebay that I took apart, cleaned up and reassembled in their original paint. AMT '40 Ford tudor... and a heavily customized AMT '32 Ford roadster complete with its original corduroy "tuck &roll" upholstery...
Wow we started late, @FrogHawk that 40 and 32 are insanely kool lookin. Great job on cleaning them up and saving them. I built this about 7-8 yrs ago. 49 RatSled. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
I'm sure I showed some pics of this car on here before, but I just took some outdoor shots yesterday that turned out pretty cool. This is an AMT based 62 Pontiac Catalina. The top is chopped 1 1/2". The custom grille is scratch built using straight pin heads and aluminum rod (upper trim piece). I dropped the chassis all around as low as I could get it without dragging the exhaust. The burnt orange is Sally Hansen "Hard To Get" nail polish shot through an air brush. The roof is Model Masters AMC Sterling Silver metallic. I swapped out the kit provided dual four barrel carbs with a scratch built Hilborn fuel injection setup; around 140 hand made parts.
Beautiful work on the survivors fellas ! Here is where I'm at with my pair of fourty 8's. IMC / Union Testors flat box issue
Nice work guys. Froghawk, thanks for taking the time to restore those oldies. That '32 is interesting! The silver paint on the tailgate and door panels looks a bit odd to me, though. I don't have anything new to show but here's one I built a few years ago for the Plastic Model Builders subgroup lakes racers build off. It's an AMT '53 Studebaker with the kit's chopped top and front end filler panels. The engine is a set back '50s Hemi with a crank driven blower.
