Im curious to see what engines you guys have in your 1955 1956 1957 oldsmobile rides that are not the original motors that came in it...im looking down the road to put something in my ride..thoughts pictures ect..thanks shane ps i have a 1956 olds
all I can say....it would be hard to beat the OE engine. I had a 55 Olds with a 455 Olds. Didn't like it near as much as the MANY 49-57 Oldsmobiles I have owned with the original engines. to each his own
You can do so much with OE type engine ...... If you don't think it's possible search Ross Racing Engines Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Got my 55 Olds with only 34K on it, but the OE had been pulled and trashed. Planned a hot rod from the start, but wanted to keep it Olds. So I opted for an Olds 350/350 combo. Your 56 has the same interior ventilation boxes on the firewall I used to push more air to the engine. Main thing is, have fun with it.
Very nice stuff from Ross racing!!! But, I thought you already welded in frame mounts for the 455? Something not working out with that decision. I thought it was a good one, and would have plenty of power for sure. At least it was still all Olds powered. Butch/56sedandelivery.
i wish it still had the original engine,,but it was long gone when i bought it..if i could find one and it wasnt a arm and a leg to have it rebuilt i would do that..that way i could at least drop it in with some help with my friends...because i would know where to place it...the 455 and new weld brackets ect...yeah im lost... hey on that 350/350 combo was there alot of stuff to be welded to get that to mount in?
On the 350/350 combo, I fabbed mounting brackets to fit the trans-am subframe I swapped in. But saw a 56 Olds with a 400 smallblock that looked real easy to do on the original cradle.
least i have a year before i lock into a engine..im flipping all over the place..a 455 a original engine a 371...my head hurts
I think im sticking with the 455 olds...but im still a year out...i just dont like the idea of not being able to drop it in myself being stuff has to be fabricated and placed just right..so nailing down a cost is hard to do..and that sucks...i like to know before hand
