Hi saltflats, Just get started, you have alot of parts!
I just started with a front axle and engine set up.

Its REALLY fun to build and look for parts, yes it costs, but I need to have one.

when im an old fart, I want to have the dragster back left in the garage or livingroom.

    cheers

  13. you're going to have to shim the coupler in the 9" to get the proper preload on the pinion

Yeah, I need to shims it correctly torque.
I think there is a Breakshim to tighten it, and it has the right preload on the pinion?

For racing it's better to shim the preload than using a crush sleeve (breakshim), it will take a few tries to get the preload right, but it will stay right.

If that is a stock third member case you may want to consider changing it to an aftermarket nodular iron one, this is a frequent occurence with the stockers.

    Thanks man!!

Sounds good, it feels more serios too I think to shims it right.
    Ill go with your advice!

Hum...not nice..! Is it a high risk breaking?

    =)

Hopefully I can have it ready for late next summer season..
Regarding how to get started, I found a dragster I really liked the look of, and has that like a model to look at, and of course save thousands of dragster pics to see what I want and dont want ;)

I Cleaned out o the garage and made me this Dragster Corner!
    Cheers

Any breakage while racing is high risk. You know of a potential problem ahead of time concerning a part in the driveline that you are basicly sitting on- What you do with this information is up to you.

Looking good that should make for a good photo op with the front end up and smoke boiling of the rear hides.

    =)

    Thanks!

  25. You might consider adding an anti-rotation bracket. Have one in our dragster made of old well casing that covers the coupler and rear tailshaft of the powerglide.

  26. X2 on the anti rotation plate. Here's the one in my Dragmaster.

Kerry do you think a full circle one would be better ?

  28. Not really. It would take something fierce to shear the three bolts.

I guess thats true. I think I have a tendeny to over build stuff not sure why I guess trying to use up all the scrap laying around.

  30. Our a half circle and cover up the coupler.... Having that coupler spinning open at 6,000 RPM, right between the legs...
