I'm glad to have been of help! Even something this trivial can make or break a project. Good to see it is working out. Color looks good Jer.

 

After we're happy with the position of the gravel deflector we need to see how that extension might look.

 

I like the way the extension looks when I compare to the original pics. I hammered out the lip on the gravel deflector but, I'll need one on this extension so, I leave enough room on the bottom side of this template for it.

 

Hey Jer, Try this http://www.unityusa.com/ they are the company that are the biggest in spotlights and I believe the guts to the lights are the same, they might be able to tell you how it comes apart

 

Along with paying attention to the details (in this case) the deflector/extension, it's also helpful to realize how heavy the deck lid is when it's not supported by the struts. If your going to temporarily support it you need to know about the unintended consequence of it coming off that support onto your hand. DAMN THAT HURTS!

Gosh Jer, hope nothing is broken and you heal up quickly.

 

Pour on some lacquer thinner, wrap it in duct tape, and go on working - isn't that the traditional thing to do?

 

I remembered doing something similar..... made even my toes hurt remembering the pain !!!

Brake clean and a red rag, do it like a mechanic !!! (thinner and tape is a body mans version of same repair)

 

Lacquer Thinner and masking tape! That was the way we used to do it.

Thanks for all the medical advice. The x-ray showed the bone is cracked. I got some stitches and this morning there's hardly any pain. I must be pretty healthy.

Here is the extension with the lip it's gonna' need.

 

You put a lot of yourself into building a car, especially one with so much sheet metal. Including blood and guts.

Love the bondo bridge, have not seen that before.

 

ouch! I was lucky ,mine came down on my head and its pretty hard lol ! you are making some great progress !!

 

That looks like it would really hurt when it happened and ache long after. Glad to hear you are recovering quickly.

Texas is so humid that after the welding is done I sand blast everything with my hand held blaster.

OK, lets get these skirts squared away. Check post #261 where the conversation starts. After they are "contoured" a bit I rub on em' a bit with the body file.

 

I thought I might be able to just "shoot" these skirts after spending a little time with them. Where this could work in some applications it won't work here. They're just not up to the standard on this build.

This is definitely an option to original long '41 Ford skirts (if you can find them). I'm sure the guy that has all his work done by someone else could be in a pair of original restored skirts at 2K+.

These skirts get the job done but, they'll need a skim coat of filler to be right.

The finger is doin' good. If I try to make it work it hurts. So, right now it's kinda' along for the ride. It's stiff from the joint forward but, doesn't hurt unless...
