always thought there is no real 1937 Ford 3 window coupe...
    ...then I found this today:

"The Ford 30 HP, Model 78, was available with a variety of body styles. Most were imported from Canada. It is believed that only the Sedan (saloon) was assembled at the Oagenham Ford plant. Shown is a three-window Coupe."

Anyone has more shots of that car?

And please no Minotti Bodies, fiberglass rods etc...

it has extra body lines in the belt line area like a 36. interesting.

  7. New to me, and I was so confident when I was talking to guys with fiberglass 3 windows.
Yes, it looks like a 36 with a 37 front clip.

so do I...and i want to know more about this one...was it a REAL 37 or a '36 leftover body with a 37 nose...i am not a Ford expert so tough to tell for me from that picture...

Also in the link they claim they were not coachbuilt in Europe, where a lot strange small series ford shapes can be found, but made in Northamerica...and I can't find anything about it elswhere.
Which is strange as normally Ford stuff is well documented.
The only thing I could find on it, is in the 'Edsel Ford and E.T. Gregorie' book. Briggs (the bodymaker repsonsible for the 37 design) proposed three windows - there are shots from clay models in the book...but nowhere a reference that it went in production

Would be cool if somebody has more shots.

It does look similar to a 36 body with 37 front but check out the windshield. It has a split 37 type windshield that makes it different than the flat 36 winshield. Very interesting and cool.

  12. I noticed that too, the beltline through the door looks just like a '36. Regardless, it's very cool to ponder the possibility.

Put this on the Ford Barn, you may get some info. The guys will love the info from you as well.

  14. That car has been known on the UK scene since the Fifties, but it was built from several scrap cars, not from the factory.

And the UK Ford factory is at Dagenham.:)

You`ve stirred a long lost memory that I may recall that car....I think a friend of mine has an old picture of that car painted white, parked up at the drags....if I get the chance, I`ll try and get a scan of it and post it up.

I have seen this pic before, and that is the story I had heard. Yet again a web site quoting mistruths as fact, and misleading people.

I know this is an old thread but I ran across it trying to find an answer to a photo I pulled off the net 15 years ago.

Reefer, did you ever find the photo of it in white?

    Cheers,
    Rob

There was a Pearl Orange one like that at the Yakima run a couple of years ago.

It was a more modern build, not a stocker.

A US company did two fibreglass bodies some years back. No idea why only two but they used the '36 windshield and cowl not the '37 with the cowl modified for their '37 fibreglass front clip.

  27. This car was rodded and featured in Custom Car magazine in the UK in the Eighties. It was pal blue with Centrelines at that time.
The zig-zag line on the cowl is what gives the game away, but it´s spot on apart from that.

RobC, are / were you the AussieRob that sent the pic to me? I put it up on Mart's Real Hot Rods in about 2001.
