I'd go with either a Isky 270 Mega Cam, or the Comp 280H Magnum. The 270 Isky will be close to 400 HP, and not require a higher stall converter. Most hydraulic flat tappet cams that make 400hp with your setup, will require a little higher stall converter. The Isky 280 Mega would get your engine to 400hp, but needs a slightly higher stall. Your 2400 might work, but a 2500 is recommended.

Comparing 280 Mega vs 280Ah-8 Comp; Note this is not the 280H Magnum it is 108 lobe center and 288 exhaust.

I'd go with a hydraulic roller for the street. Cam companies all have tech lines to get the right specs.

I wouldn't bother with a flat tappet nowadays . . . you can have less peak #s but more area under the curve with the ramp profiles which means more vacuum and more torque/mileage per given advertised duration

Ok low end is always nice. Im building this for a friend and he does not want to pay for a roller which always is a better choise. So i think i we will go with the voodoo cam , thanks för the input.

The first time you replace the new cam because of a flat lobe, the roller doesn't look that expensive.

Yea, I know it doesn't always happen --------- but it does happen.

The only thing that keeps me using flat tappet cams is my existing stash of flat tappet-length pushrods hasn't run out yet.I'm looking forward to using up my existing stock so I can bravely march ahead into the 20th Century though.....:)

Basically I am doing the same thing the tech guys do, input the parameters and run a simulation. Of course I am a little more curious, willing to look at other cam companies, changing lobe centers or ICL. Like on this engine a lot with Comp's Camquest depends on how you answer the question Usage:

    The 280 Cams are 5/6's.

run a good oil (like brad penn) or zddp additive and you should be good...

that 280 magnum is going to want a fairly decent sized convertor...if I was going to be buying one, i'd go for something that comes in about 2000 and goes out about 6000...and makes a ton of torque...

It wasn't a 280 Magnum above, it was 280AH-8 Oval track grind.

The light colors are the 280 Magnum.

In my experience, the Isky hydraulic flat tappet cams always offer more bang for the buck than the Comp Magnum series.
It's the little differences in the specs that make the difference:
These specs are for a 289/302 Ford, but you get the idea)

    Lift: Comp:.512" Isky:.517"
    Dur:Comp:230 Isky:232
    LSA:Comp:110 Isky:108

All this makes for a little nastier, little harder hitting, slightly harder revving motor, with a cam that really doesn't look much different on paper.

    Hell,you can build a 400hp 302
ford with that cam if you can do a bit of your own porting work.A 350 Chevy will definitely make 400hp with an Isky 280 MegaCam.
Just my two cents worth.Im not knocking Comp's mind blowing R&D department, just saying ol Ed got the name "The Camfather" by being incredibly good at his job.
