Per recent threads, I would stay away from EZ. If nothing else to kill the drama.

  3. Rebel Wire, contact Tugmaster here on the HAMB.

  4. I've used most of the Rebel,Ron Frances, EZ Wire but for the past few years I have started using the American Auto Wire and am sold on them,,everything is included in the box,,you don't have to go out and buy any additional parts.

The instructions are easy to follow and broken down in different steps. HRP

  5. I built my own. I would start by making a line diagram of what components you need power to. then get your wire from a place like Brillman.

  6. Nobody I have ever talked to has any bad to say about Rebel Wire. That's saying something, because all my friends love to shit-talk!

  7. I vote for Rebel for a simple hot rod. Vote American Auto Wire for a car like yours. I spent over a hundred dollars on extra stuff to do a 55 Pontiac using a Painful harness. As HRP stated. You don't need nothing else with the AAW harness. They furnish all the terminals the rubber grommets and a great print in color to show you the way.

I used American Autowire in my Chevy , good easy to understand instructions and colored diagram . Wires color coded and labeled . If not i would not have been able to do it, wireing not my favorite thing to do . I only wish i had got the one with 22 , i believe circuits , i had to add in some extra fuses for things i thought of later. I would use it again.

I'm a total amateur and have only wired one car, my 50 Plymouth. I used an American Autowire highway 22 kit. Great quality, simple and complete instructions, everything included in box. Installation was fast, easy and everything worked first crank. My buddy bought the same kit on my recommendation but got hung up on some part of the install. He called the tech line and the fella on the other end of the line walked him right through the fix. So top marks for customer service as well.

Ron Francis is the only harness. I have done several cars through the years. Ron Francis kit is easy to install, labeled correctly, and can be used for decades trouble free. All the wires are marked so they can be read by an old guy. Just saying!

I have used EZ twice, without issues. I have a friend who has wired alot of cars throughout the years, and he was the one who recommended the EZ harness.

I agree and have written about our luck with EZWire. I am far from an electrician but I guess basic understanding helps.
Still after reading all of these posts I'd try American Autowire next. Nothing but good comments and at least the company backs it up.
Of course with a member selling Rebel Wire it only seems natural to go that way. But from what I read they are for more basic wiring.
I used to buy wire and connectors to do my own. Believe me any kit is a lot faster and the wires are marked. The trick is do only one circuit at a time then hook up a battery and check it out.

I've wired with Ron Francis, Centech, and American Autowire kits... like the AAW the best. Just bought their Hwy 15 kit for my '32 pickup. Good quality, heavy duty wire, simple instructions, 100% complete kit and comes in a handy box.
They'll also rent you a nice professional crimping tool for $25 if you buy a kit.

  22. One consideration is the number of power acc. you are going to run because a 9 circuit will get you squared away. Their is a guy in Moses Lake Wa.that makes harnesses for the 4x4 guys and is really quiet the value for around a $100,basic no frills.

I have always wired my cars with a roll of black wire, do one wire at a time and no confusion. Bundle them up with zip ties and you have a neat system.

The only problem that I have encountered is tracing the wires later as they are all black.

I thought that I would buy 10 rolls of different colored wire for my latest project, but I think that a prewired system like American Auto Wire would be cheaper in the long run.

    CORRECTION,

I just checked the prices on prewired systems. I think that I will buy the colored wire and use my circut breaker box from NAPA.

  26. If you are new to automobile wiring I would use American auto wire. I have used all different mfg. There instructions are best for the beginner it also comes with a schematic. Good luck with your project.

The only harness to use is Ron Francis. Clearly marked, good instructions, and a good tech help if you need it. That is what I have in my convertible, and one will go into the 42 Chevy when it gets to that point

Looking also.... I have wired my past 3 cars with the EZ wire kits... no problems at all.
But I MAY at some point add door poppers / trunk popper and power windows so I am looking at all options for my 56 Merc.
