This is a video of a Kent Fuller Dragster, that a friend and I bought, made some changes and raced back in 1986. The Nostalgia movement was gathering steam and we wanted to play. We approached this, wanting to replicate the spirit of the middle 60's, you will notice "No Burnout". With the exception of the aircraft starter, in lieu of a "Push Start", our goal was to match the looks and performance of a AA/FD of that time period, as close as we could. I was a "Rookie" Dragster Driver, and this is only the 4th pass I made in this car. I am compiling pics and writing the story about our adventure, including the individuals (some very well known) who helped us with parts and advice, and how we did it for under $7,000.00.

I must admit I made a mistake, that was my 5th pass (I am getting old!). The 4th was an 8.04 @ 180, and I only made 6 passes total in that car. The 6th was 7.95 @ 192.71. Sorry for the mistake.

Great video and good story! I was there that day driving Dave Snyders T-Bird! Had a good time visiting with you and Ern tonite at Rollas party. I bet if someone tried you could do the same thing for under 10 grand. You just have to be ingenious and crafty!

Thanks for the kind replies, I have another video of our first outing with the car, at Baylands Raceway in Fremont, Ca. I think it is even better, I am racing against Jim Davis at the '86 "Nostalgia Nationals", if I can get clearance to post it, I will. The big thing we had going for us back then, was timing, there wasn't a market for those old "Obsolete" cars and parts, making it cheap to do, however there weren't very many race tracks, willing to hold any events of that type. We have my old friends, Tom Prufer and Brian Burnett, along with "Street Rodder" Magazine who sponsored and promoted those early races to thank, and for getting the movement started. Tom and Brian knew how to hold an event, bringing the likes of, Art Chrisman, Don Garlits, and many others to make "Exhibition Runs" along with some great racing. As far as what happened to the car, I saw it in the "Classifieds" here on the HAMB about a year and a half ago. It had been lengthened back to it's original configuration, and with the nose- section re-installed. It also had an injected Hemi, similar to the one that was in it when we purchased it. It was in Central Oregon and it sold! Here are a couple more shots of it, when we bought it and after the changes.

Thanks so much for posting that. That brings back some memories of the early nostalgia racing scene. Those days had to have been as much fun as the early days of drag racing in that parts/cars were cheap enough for everyone to get into.
