Asking if anyone knows a dependable shop to send an Algon sbc fuel injection to be up-dated to put on a cackle dragster. It is a complete unit but was told the metering valve assembly might not be able to be used and will have to be changed to a common barrel valve and late model pump. Thanks for your time.

I deal with the Algon (Al Gonsales) family and I speak to Kevin Filarski, his nephew who still stocks parts in his garage. Al lot was left when he passed. I use two of his systems still. Kevin is my source. If you send me a P/M I'll give you the contact information.

Sorry for the long delay on getting back to you with the latest, here are pictures of my Algon unit, finished getting 99% of the unit done today, found a bad hole on # 3 injector stripped, have a heli-coil fix on the way, will have it next week. Made new hoses with new ends and collers. Slide valeve & butterflies cleaned with lemon juice. Used fine media blast on the intake. Had to relocate the roll pin hole for the throttle idle & wide open adjuster. Left is setting the air gap & nozzle adjustment. Some more calls to make about that. Thanks for your interest in this recon project.

Lookig for a set of stock short stack / tubes for an Algon system, a friend needs a set for his dragster with a 409 with Algon system with modified long tubes.

Hope to get mine on the motor in 2 weeks and see if all works as hoped, thanks for your interest in this project.

Algon not on motor yet, engine shop had to wait till seal power made the rings for the .030 over 283 pistons. Maybe next week the shop will be ready to dyno the motor with a 4 brl on it to set the rings & brake in the cam. Can't wait to see the HP numbers. SWEET.

Still looking for a set of 1 7/8" original Algon stacks, Kevin has none.

  9. I'm assuming this is the size you're looking for for your friend's intake? Of the two 348/409 systems I've had, one had the 1-7/8" and the other 2".

I think at one point "ALGON" here on the HAMB had (or had access to) dies that could put a proper flare on tubing to replicate the original. It's been a few years since I conversed with him about the Algon stuff. You'd have to make your own tabs for the hold-down screws from hex stock.

    Did you find the stacks?

Are you using a Cherry Burrell pump?

    Thanks!

Ken, I did not find any stacks for my friend, I am using an NOS original pump that was part of the Algon system, there was an NOS in the purchase deal. Hope to get motor in chassis next week, having problems with new bronze safety hubs for the rear axle hubs. Machine shop should have all the parts done this week than I can roll the cahssis to the engine bay. Thans for the interest and info. Bobby

Been a while here is the latest, motor & trans in chassis, made clutch linkage seems to work great. Finally got a small enough starter to fit in a chassis that never ment to have one, the small tilitson styles were to big, friends shop made a small magnet starter that fits and ingages fine. Now a problem with the drive spud for the algon pump, the two I had to buy that was to be in the deal!!! are remakes of the original one, wound up it does not work with the timing cover that came with the motor, not the original cover so now I need to have a 1/2 inch spacer made to bring the spud out to the pump to engage. Cheaper than making new spuds from scrach. Hope to have that next week some time, with only a few hours a couple a day a week she is getting there but as they say "if it was easy everyone would be doing it."
Thanks for your interest pictures when all is done & together.
    Bobby.

Bobby, more info on the spud please. I've got an sbc algon intake, no front cover, but have a cherry burrell pump. What cover did you end up using?

Pictures if you get a chance.

    Thanks!

When asked about the pink cord on the covers tell them to show support for breast cancer research.
