Anyone know the formula for the axle placement on a single axle? Is it 15% of the weight on the tongue?

I hauled this one for a customer from Benecia California to Phoenix Arizona about a year and a half ago. Had a 40 Merc convertible project inside.

I have always wondered how these un-sprung trailers pulled. It would look like it would beat you to death.

I was always told that a well designed trailer for a dragster is critical for the FED chassis to live. An unsprung trailer would be awfully hard on your FED. When I built mine I added a built in air bag to support the dragster chassis during transport. It's hardly noticeable and lets the car literally ride on air. I later added an additional one for the front of the car. No point in flexing the chassis any more than you have to. YMMV

I wonder if a car under 2000# would require springs?

Here's a couple shots belonging to my father's friend, Dallas Schneider, of Longmont, CO. He still has the Cameo.
