If you stepped down to a 75 or 70 series, the overall height of the wheel and tire should stay the same. It wouldn't rub then, would it?

Hell even 175-80R13s are getting hard to find, thats what I've been having to use on my 'Vair's. I can't afford Coker's prices.

I had the same problem when I needed tires for my '63. Tire companies quit making 13" tires a couple of years ago. I was lucky enough to find 2 at the Firestone down the street, but the others had to be shipped from GA and one from IN.

Some companies still list the correct size on their sites, but if you call and try to buy them, they say that they do not carry them and the site is out of date.

Coker only has bias plys, which are expensive and bias plys are part of the reason why Corvairs had a bad handling reputation.

Your best bet is to upgrade to 14" tires/rims, maybe by swapping the suspension from a 65-69 Corvair (you'll get better handling, too!) and figure out a way to deal with the rub (different offset rims?)

Have you tried the local Sears store if it sells tires? They may not have them in stock but they handle a lot of brands.

I got a set for my daughter's MG Midget last year at the local tyre (that's how they spell it ;) ) store. They could only find one kind of 13" tyre from any of their vendors. I forget what brand it is, but it's a name I'd never heard of before.

I needed the same size for a Fiero. Found them at "Tires-easy.com" made by Carlsile. $69.90 each.

  24. That exact size - no. But, if you can be a bit flexible, Pomps and Discount tire have 13" tires suitable for Corvair (and Falcon, mine in particular). 185/70R13 is the size you will have to buy.

Plus, Discount cannot be searched online, you have to call. I went in, and many choices.

Pomps may be dealer sales only, but I know they have them as well.

And that Amazon listing - $120.00 Really?? Pomps was about $27.00 each, though, again, that might be dealer-only pricing. But still, nobody marks anything up 510%.

Pep Boys list 6 choices, Hankook and Kumho among them. Both decent tires.

    Cosmo, still rolling on 13's

I was able to order mine through Belle Tire. Also, Clark's Corvair Parts has had them listed.

Picked up a set at local wal mart that i believe were that size not long ago. I know they were 13s. I think they were $52 each if I remember right.
