    Hello all,

I'm new to this so if I'm doing anything wrong please let me know.
I have the to purchase a Chrysler Industrial 230 Engine out of a combine.
Can I put it in My '49 Plym in place of the 218? If so, is it just an easy swap or is there a lot of other things that need to be done?

    Thanks,
    Kutty

  3. welcome to the board ....

1st this is the intro section ( read the sticky )

2nd, if you post this question in the main board, im sure you ll have some answers ..

3rd , just need to post once ...

    once again, welcome =)

  4. Welcome...a combine engine in a '49 Plymouth? I'll have to Google that combine engine and see what the interest is (got a '49 Dodge). Interesting idea though.

After a quick search, I found your on to something! Over at: http://olskoolrodz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40495 there's a write up of this. May have to keep an eye out myself, keep us posted but move your progress to the main board and out of the introduction section.

Not a swap motor for motor, there will be some fabrication. Block is longer, you will have to swap motor mounts and move radiator to start

Yep..not a straight 'remove one and
replace it with the other' job but not
a complicated or difficult swap either.
Ma Mopar even did this "swap",
right at the factory even, on
    Canadian-built Plymouths of that
era, all of which - unlike their
    otherwise mechanically identical
U.S-built cousins - used the slightly
    longer Desoto-Dodge-Chrysler
    Industrial' block.

Yeah Marty, I knew that. Is fairly easy. But if you find a 230, it drops right in. The Chrysler/desoto is 2.5 inches longer for more work. Drop a hot cam in a 230, split mani, dual carbs, shave the head .70 and you got a hot motor for nothing. You can also bore it out if you want...
