    Hey Gang
Well last year I bought a 32 3-window locally that was in storage since the 70's. It was a typical 70's style build. It had a 1972 350 with tri-power, 4-speed, Chevy rear end. It also had a flat sheet metal floor, recessed firewall, filled in cowl vent, magnesium hurst disk brakes and original interior was totally gone and replaced with buckets and a wood dash. One plus it's an original body and it had a original frame under it. While it was a running car it wasn't for me. So it went under the knife. Here are some before pictures and then Ill post some new pictures with details on whats going on with the build.

Ok so now it's way different. Going to a more traditional route. Original frame was saved and had a 39 X-member installed. Will be powered by a 1959 Ford Y-block with a vintage 573 Eldebrock tri-power intake. Here is a list of what it will run when it's done.
    1940 banjo rear
    1940 radius rods
    1932 split bones
    4" original heavy beam
    1939 Lincoln brakes
    36-39 Ford wide five rims
    Original firewall re-installed
Original dash, steering column and seat re-installed
    F1 steering

Yeah that wasn't the easiest engine to put in it. Without cutting up the firewall you have to move the front crossmember up 2" and run a remote oil system as the steering goes right through it.

Really a nice piece and I totally agree with your plans. Only thing wrong is your statement about only '32 project. '32 are very addicting and when you get this one done............

Loving all the changes so far.

  19. Really like what you're doing. And love the choice of engine. Well worth all the effort.

Love the uncut firewall. Can you still run a stock hood ? What gets in the way of the front crossmember needing it to be raised 2"?
We have a different problem here being RHD the starter and F100 box will probably want to occupy the same space.

Kiwi we moved the front crossmember forward 2" because the Y-block has a very large water pump design. Tha'ts the only way to do it if you want to run a Y-block and retain the factory firewall. If I want to run a original style hood I'll have to buy one that's 2" longer.

Bugger , I haven't used my tape measure yet but could have checked my 32 3w with hot flatty for reference . I have a mint stock hood for our 32 Pick up . So it seems unless I can shorten the water pump considerably we are out of luck running a Y block in a 32 pick up with stock firewall and hood. that's a shame as we have a hot 292 with triples just waiting for a home.

We will have shakeys rails build us a replica 32 chassis here in nz. He does an awesome deal and quality workmanship . But alas no vin number. He will build it to your specs with crossmember as you require .
