Sorry to ask this here, but its a shot. hey, its a traditional 4 wheeler right?. Some of you know, my shop had 7 feet of saltwater from Katrina. Among the many things trashed was my 87 Honda 200SX, which was in mint condition before. Ive flushed it out, cleaned the carb. it ran briefly but now has no spark at all. Fuse checks good, tried 2 new plugs. The dealer thats not closed is booked for ever for repair work. I think likely culprits may be coil or cdi box?
probaly both.salt water and electronics probaly do not go good with each other.get a service manual on ebay, grab a multimeter and have at it
CDI is a likely culprit, or a corroded terminal somewhere. Try giving the CDI a good whack with a wrench or something while cranking on it, that will sometimes temporarily fix it... The switch could possibly be it, as well, does the neutral light come on? If it's not on when it's in neutral, it's not gonna fire either.. I've got an '86 200 sx, '85 trx125, '85 atc70... (a a bunch of 3 and 4 wheelers for parts), traditional Honda's rock! Brian
Thanks for the input guys, I'm going to hunt a cdi box for it on ebay, nuetral light does come on at least, I do have a manual on the way, but I've pretty much been over the harness with a fine tooth comb. I dont think it'll be as simple as a connector now. something died and it aint working until its replaced. Anyway, at least I got a plan now...
