I am still trying to button things down mechanically with this ol' girl. But Jasan (racejam) thinks she's a little chunky in the nose proportionate to the chop. Thoughts?

Leave it alone, looks good to me.

  3. I say leave it alone as well

  4. I think it's chopped a little hard. A little out of the hood would look good, but it really needs a section. Go ahead, it's easier than the chop !

    Just leave it.

I like my cars with a big nose, separates it from the egg-like new cars.

The chop is pretty radical. Leave the nose as it is

The chop is indeed radical.... I say eliminate the running boards, channel and/or raise the fenders so the bottom of the cab and fenders are at the same level and section the hood... Kinda like if the Dream Truck was a Ford. Maybe somebody with photochop skills could do this?

In my opinion the 40's and 50's cars and trucks should not be chopped...they never look right. I'd un-chop it .

    Looks perfect, dont touch it!

On second thought, maybe bring that front bumper in a little closer to the body. (sticks out pretty far)

Thanks all. We are planning to fix the roof and do a few things but I just want to drive the piss out of it for now. I got her chopped and that's one reason I dug it, but it was done rough, so we are gonna make it right at some point. I definitely want to pull that bumper in.

I've always felt the early F1s were a natural for the canted quad and custom grille treatment. Just look at the shape of the bottom of the grille opening.

    Stock is for soup.

I totally disagree 40's and 50's trucks and cars are dying to be chopped, This is one I did a few years ago. I'd try to put some turret top back in that roof, and drive the hell out of it!

i think the nose looks good, but what about a little section job, between the wheels, bottoms of fenders and running boards? that might squash things a bit without too much work.

I never liked the looks of the front end on those trucks. They do look heavy and out of proportion especially with the chop.

Suggest you think up a new grille and headlight treatment with headlights in a more conventional position, higher and wider apart, and a better grille.

I'm thinking quad headlights from some 58 - 60 car, possibly the canted ones from a 60-62 Chrysler, with a unique grille and car bumper.

  21. take the front bumper off and the lower bar on the grill and fill in the holes...

  22. Section the cab enough to bring the window reveal down to the top of the bed. You might even take a little out of the fenders. There is a lot of mass there.

  23. Rough idea, take off the bumper and lower grill and smooth out the front end.

Clarkaiser used two Ford pickup grille shells (one inverted) for the 'Arctic Sands" coupe.
A number of different grille styles would work in this opening.

Of course, a section would be nice (if you're not claustrophobic!).
