Definitely an improvement and very close to what I was thinking. I thought maybe a section 41 grille and 37 headlights. Losing the hairlip was a definite improvement. Fugly rules!

I see what you're getting at, fleet-master. I'll see what I can do.

Here's hoping Harrison can find the car.

It's like a lost puppy dog. How could you not love it?

  6. this is a prop from the future non-animated cars movie. This is Tow Maters meth addicted half sister, the result between a threesome with a ford, vette, and a studebaker [IMG]

Talked to a guy today that knew the car. Said he remembered seeing it shortly after he graduated high school in 1955, so he said around '56 or '57. also thought Ray Farhner my have had a hand in it. Doug worked for Ray on and off.

Someone P'shop some quad lights in those fenders like Brandy's Chariot. That would probably work with the existing grille and hood.

  10. Ruben, I like where this is headed!!!

AK, do you know that the car was built in Kansas City in '55-'57? If so, we kinda know where it came from.... now, where did it go?

    I WANT IT!!!

I like the stock end. I could totally imagine it cleaned up at a car show.

Drive by and see if the guy still lives there. If not, get his name from the current resident and look him up.
Chances are, he'd still have the car (it's not like people were begging him to sell it to him) or might know which direction it went after he sold it...

Ha! No kidding, mrjynx.....we were actually thinking along the same lines. You made it look really good as a wild show rod, whereas I went with a mild businessman's custom. That car can be styled so many ways.

That looks like the first aborted attempt at what Joe Wilhelm finally finished...

and the second version was not much prettier...

You look like you did it with less effort than me, I`m still pretty new to figuring out hard reflections and digital painting.
Plus I always have 100 layers going on and miss something.

I dig it. Probably out there some place.

  27. If I had a clue where they were I would be happy to, unfourtunatley that was 12yrs ago so I don't know where they went.

  28. I think Ruben needs to paint this car.... ;););)

Flt Blk, thanks for bringing that thread back up. Even without pics it helps. From my copied and pasted 2004 post below..... looks like I did get to talk to the guy and he told me it came from Kansas. (My memory is terrible.)

"I have some pics of that car somewhere around here. I lived near D-burg several years ago when that thing was sitting on the side of the highway. Went through a couple of years ago and it wasn't there anymore.

He told me the car had come to Tennessee from Kansas. Apparently the work was done out there.

    JH"

I said above that I "went through a couple of years ago" which means that the car would have not been there anymore probably in '01-'02......

    Thanks, Jim

Maybe it would have been better if it got turned into a bubble topped custom. At least then there wouldn't be so much pain looking at the really nice 3 window roof and door tops!
