I am curious if anyone out of Southern California knows anything about this 1940 Deluxe. It came out of So. Cal, around the mid 1960's. It was customized in the late 50's, has a 1956 Buick 322 Nailhead, Thompson Breathers on Aluminum finned valve covers, Sun Tach, Zoomie style headers, that drop down inside the front fenders, ET upfront, Gold Wheels rear with MH Cheater Slicks, Black custom interior, loop carpet, going to replace it, Used to have Pipe Organ Speaker covers in package tray, Buttons are all chrome. Mostly original paint, it was shown a lot in down in California, guy bought it and brought it to Mill City, Oregon around 1965, Sold it in 1970's to a gentleman I know, he owned it for 25 years, then sold to the last guy for 10 years, been in storage for the most part 40 years, last tagged 1978. Has not run in all that time, but she is running good now. It is an interesting car for sure, want to keep it period correct. Thanks
Sweet ride !! Love old cars with old motors ! That's how it would have been back in the day for sure....
This car is From back in the day, not something someone just built, I love these type of cars. Just added some pics of the engine, it runs very strong!!. Has Stock rearend, and transmission I believe is stock, with an Aluminum Bell Housing Adapter of some sort. I have not driven it yet, needs a water pump and fuel pump, running it off a Electric Fuel pump for the moment.
Put all the trim back on it today, everything was labeled, car was eventually going to be restored, new paint etc??? I want it to stay just like this, but cleaned and preserved. My biggest question will be, do I leave the Yellow Smiley Face ball on the Antenna, It has been on there for 35 years : ). I know one thing is the 1961 Indy Drag Sticker on the window is staying, what is left of it!!!!
More like "lake" headers, not "zoomies", but insanely cool. Change as little as possible for now and drive the hell out of it! Sweet rod...
Man - that is neat as hell. Don't change a thing on it! That needs to get driven around and shown off.
Now that is just bad ass cool......Hope ya keep it just like it is and drive the shit out of it. Sure would look good on the salt at Bonneville.
Definitely cool piece of history. Any pics of the dash? Really neat you got it running after all these years. Wonder what the hold up was. TP
