  3. Fred, did you ever live in Maryland? Met a guy from there who had a brown '55 Nomad with a flip front and hemi. This was early 80's and the venue was a 55-57 Chevy show in VA Beach.

The 331/354 are rear sump like the SBC. "David Walter" here on the Board told me he has engine mounts for this.

  6. Fairly easy. I took the engine tranny, exhaust and radiator from a 1957 Chrysler New Yorker. Had to cut a notch in the front cross member for the oil pan. The Chrysler exhaust actually fit the chevy. Cut the Chrysler engine mounts off the Chrysler frame and weld them in the chevy. Made an adapter for a Holley carb to the stock 4 barrel manifold. Quite fast . 1968. Then in 1968 I put a 392 in a 59 El Camino . Had to cut the front cross member on that one too. Both cars used the stock chevy rear end. Used the push button shifter as well. Hi Fred. Is this the 55 nomad that you take to the gasser meets. Look forward to seeing at Thompson each year.

If you already have the 392, or are bent on having one instead of a 331/354, you can convert the 392 to rear sump & it'd be an easier fit.

I contracted to build a set of headers for a blown '92 in a '63 split window. I built a zoomie style set of primaries exiting under the front fenders and then blended 4 into two and used some Mitchell dual core glasspacks (for XKE Jags) . It fit in nicely and was a baaad Jose !

I did a build thread on my 392 powered 55 Chevy. Been together for 7 yrs. One of the best motors I have ever had. I'd attach the link, but not able from my phone. Good luck.

  15. I've seen Baron's Hemi 55. He's the man to guide you through this maze.

  16. I love then in about anything. Although I would probably put a chebby in a MOPAR just to ruffle some feathers.

  17. I wonder if the OP did the swap?
Threads almost two years old, so I also wonder if OP saw Roadkills episodes with their 55 with Hemi?, 'Blashemi'.
