Maybe this isn't the place for this car (amazing work though) Your black 55 and Willys really did it for me years ago...so much-respect.
I love traditional hot rods as much as anyone but it seems to me like there are a lot of other posts that are REALLY off topic if you want to cry about the old days. I don't see the the point in bitching about a post from someone that actually has a lot of history in this hobby and can probably contribute to this site in the future when discussing "traditional" cars. Lighten up. It's the interweb, not real life. By the way 49rat, I enjoy most of you posts. Just get tired of seeing newer posters getting a cold welcome.
Normally I hear "Just another cookie cutter Tri Five with a small block Chevy". So the guy goes back in time to an even more traditional era and suicides the doors. Then instead of a modern mundane small block he throws a 12 cyl marine Hemi in it. It wasn't like he put a Honda Civic engine in it. Nice 55! Good job!
posting that car here is the same as posting Camaro pics on a Mustang forum. the only difference is that people on those forums know the difference between a Mustang and a Camaro.
Gary....as in "Haulin Ass 56" Gary? Welcome! I grew up watching that car in Oxnard@Service Center. My all time favorite Hotrod. I'd love to own it. Thanks for posting!
"..........................FATMAN ultra low mustang II, 305/700R4.............................." ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Some of you guys are cracking me up... Yea, the car is a little OT for the HAMB, where traditional rods and customs are the norm. Gary has been a huge reason that many of us got into the hobby in the first place. When I first saw that black 55, it was all over... The yellow Willys would go just fine in my garage too. I am happy to see the results of his latest ride, stuffing a huge engine in a shoebox Chev. Good to hear from you Gary! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Nice car! The engine is way over the top and the workmanship looks terrific. I'd love to see that car close up.
Would like to know any detail about the tilt front. Hydraulic/Air or manual? How are the bottoms of the fenders held in? Do the fenders push out to lift then go in when it is down?
OH, That Gary who had "that" black 55 tudor post that probably caused as many 55's to be rodded as all the others combined. The blue one is nice even if it isn't Hamb friendly. The Black one almost caused me to buy a 55.
That's a great looking car. Glad you posted it! Maybe you can post more photos of that killer looking car, and engine. Stan
Now I remember... I have both of those issues of HOTROD and or Car Craft with those cars in there... Damn! When was that??? Late '70's or early 80's??? I gotta dig those up... That yellow twin turbo Willys was way ahead of it's time...
Sir, you have set the bar again. Your original '55 was one of the most impressive vehicles that I have ever seen. I was sixteen when it was featured in Hot Rod and I kept the magazine until it literally fell apart. It made a huge impression. I am hoping to see some ink on this new one in the future.
Yeah, the guy's just a legend, and was kind enough to show us the absolutely bitchin' car he just finished. "Well, let's just tell him to fuck right off and hope he never comes back! He can't have anything to offer!" Well played, gentlemen. Congratulations on your success. Gary, if you're still here, your car is gorgeous, and the work is impeccable, as always! Congratulations on finishing it!
Well said, it could be the ultimate sleeper. Gary thought outside the box in the 70's and is still doing so today.
Great car. Man, I would love to see what the V12 turns in the quarter mile. A lot of new ideas are seen on this car. Marine V12? Who would have thought? Thanks for posting!
