I´ve done a few bikes, and it´s easy to move the gas tank and loose parts around, so it´s easier to work, and it was a challenge not o have that option, but I think it went pretty ok.. and the customer was happy about it too, so here is the very first car I´ve pinstriped.. Three shades of blue on a matte blue 1953 Ford Customline..

In a couple of weeks, I´m going to pinstripe a matte black 1954 Ford Customline..

I like your style. So many are sharp lines and jagged edges. Good stuff. Iceman

Looks like nice, tight curves. To me, that's what separates a good artist from bad.

Awesome work despite being out of your comfort zone.

I, too, dig your style. Interesting how you flipped the "pennants" at the top of your two similar designs.

Excellent! Good for you. Nice and symetrical too.

Do you put down reference points to help get each side the same?

I hope you get lots of work.

Thanks a lot guys for the feedback, really appreciate it!

@Iceman: Yea I try to avoid the very sharp edges and jagged lines.. I also do leather work and some engraving and are very inspired by the traditional woodcarving, scroll engraving and sheridan style leather craft.. so I guess maybe that affect my stripes too and little by little getting my own style :)

@mashed, defiantly out of my comfort zone, but I remembered to breathe a little between the stripes and I learn a little while doing a new bike or car, and this one was a great experience. Also the owner of the car gave me free hands and let me work by my self and didn´t hang over my shoulder :)

I dont have much experience with cars yet, but when I´m doing a bike, I always try to have some similarities, but still a little different on gas tank and fenders if I´m doing both. I hope it is more interesting to look at.

@Rickybob, yea defiantly have some guid lines and reference points.. I´ve always admired the guys that just grab a brush and lay down some stripes as the most natural thing, but I´m not there yet, but I´m doing my best..

@Hotrodprimer, I´m using 1-shot enamel and Mack series 10 brushes.. The last bike I did I tried HOK, but I think it dried to fast, and it seems like they doesnt have as much pigment in their paint.. it seems more transparent, but it might be me that isn´t used to HOK, so I stick to 1-shot. :)

    Thanks again!

Thanks a lot! This is also the first time where I have used three colours in the same design.. mostly done two or some times one as I started with.

Another thing I believe is important is what colour to paint first and what order they are painted.. in this design I think it would have been "wrong" if the light colour was underneath the darker blue.. so I started with the dark blue, then middle blue and the very light blue at last..

I often see pinstripes where I think they have laid down the colours in "wrong" order.. or at least in my opinion would have looked a lot better if the order was different, but I guess it´s nothing right or wrong in art :)

    Anyways, thanks again!

    That looks really good!

I've always admired pinstripers; I'm not artistic at all to save my life :(

You've inspired me to give it a crack one day on my '61!

  17. Looks good, especially if it's your first car. Darkest first to lightest last is a good rule of thumb.

Very good. The designs on both ends 'flow' with their surroundings. The rear is tighter and has a better overall look. Big prop's for a beginner that is fo' sho'.

    Thanks a lot guys!! :)

@chevymike, I'll let you know, but I'm in Norway.. Altho i have pinstriped and gold leafed a Harley in Brunei, Asia, but it's a bit more hassle to ship a car ;-) But thanks for the trust!

Looking forward to pinstripe the next Customline in July..
