Alright... Fine... 1959/60. I could go back in my archives and find a decent example of a '59/60 Chevrolet custom that was built back in the day, but lets be honest - it wouldn't be as good as the Gary Howard built 1960 owned by Mike Young. In my opi...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
Very few "later model" customs ever worked IMHO,.... This one doesn't have a bad angle on it... great looking Custom.
Being that I am not a custom guy I can appreciate a great looking car and Mike has nailed the look of a Traditional Custom! HRP
If I remember correctly its chopped 1 1/2". A HUGE task on these cars, but another perfectly executed modification! Sent using the NEW Droid HAMB app from atop my toilet.
The chop on that car is a work of genius! Wish we had a time machine so it could be sent to Larry Watson's shop circa 1963! Not that the paint isn't nice, but I'd love to see what Larry would've done with this great custom.
Right??? Still, it's a gorgeous car. Does anybody know the skinny on that grill? I seem to remember the article in Custom Rodder calling it a "flea market special", but that's all.
I love 60s and would not change a thing on one but Gary went above and beyond GMs styling on that one!
Exotica is on my list of top five Kustoms ever built. Seeing it in person just blows ya away. Thanks for posting it on the HAMB, I need a shot of Kool...
I saw it at the SEMA show when it was just finished. I bet I shot a whole roll of film on it, LOL. Funny to say in this digital age. I remember asking about the color.... "Abalone flake" was the reply. Sent using the NEW Droid HAMB app from atop my toilet.
What a beauty,I dream of that color and paint combo on my Merc.any photoshoppers want a paid job to see how it would look?
I never cared that much for the '60s, but I have loved that car since I saw it at Roundup in 2008. It's so damned perfect. psst... Ryan... you sure you don't want to take it up to '61?
The chop is so subtle I couldn't tell it was chopped. I wonder how many inches it was? Its a beautiful car for sure.
That's the perfect chop for that car. You seem some chop jobs that make you cringe, but that one is simply perfect because it flows so well with the car's lines. Some body had a great eye and great skills to go with it.
I don't believe I have ever seen that car until now, and I am not sure how I could have missed it, but I have to say that is one VERY nice custom. I love the look and have just added another ride to my ever growing "bucket list"!
When the 59's first came out I was nine years old and into cars as much then as now .... I remember all the Dads in the post-war San Diego subdivision I lived in were blown away by the looks, especially the wings. In my opinion one of the first and finest examples of a factory custom out of Detroit and the car guys just improved upon it from there. This 60 is another example .... great made better.
