I purchased a master cylinder at a local swap meet. I believed it to be a disc/drum MC. The front fluid chamber is large and the rear fluid chamber is smaller. The bore is 1-1/8".

I am thinking of using it on my 51 Merc . Disc front - Drum rear.

Can anyone ID this for me?

    Thanks,

The guy I bought the MC from had no idea. He thought it might be GM, but he was not sure. I knew I could use it on one of my projects, and for $5.00 bucks I took it.
Now I am trying to determine if it is in fact disc/drum or ???

    Thanks Henry29,

I will compare this MC with a 75-78 Nova at the parts house.

    :D

  6. I've had them in the box and if the box isn't current I never have any luck ID'ing them.

For the $20 a reman disc/drum master costs at the parts store, it's never been worth the hassle to try too hard to ID one.

Which may be an option - go to a parts store, or hit their or Rock Auto's website, and throw some applications at it and look for one to match. It shouldn't be too hard since a lot of them cross to multiple vehicles.

It looks tall to me compared to the usual GM ones, so that may help it stand out in the crowd. I presume there are no numbers or anything on it?

    Any casting numbers?
    Size of the ports?

Looks like 70-74 Nova disc brake Wagner #F73343.
