Hey all, I've got a quick question about the gas pedal assembly on this era of Buicks. The pedal on our 52 Roadmaster gave up the ghost this weekend. The rubber section between the floor mount, and the pedal itself finally wore out. So, I'm looking to replace it. While hunting for a replacement online I found that I may have been missing a part all along. The diagram on this page: http://www.classicbuicks.com/Pedal_Pad.html It shows "part B" as being an "accelerator pedal rod to floor bellows". Our Roadmaster most definitely does not have that part, so, I don't know how it should be installed. From looking at it, I imagine that the bellows just slides down over the accelerator rod and rides between the pedal and the floor, but, wanted to ask around as I know there's a few more Buick guys on here. If anyone has a better diagram, or maybe a picture it would be appreciated. Or if it just slides down over the rod like I think it does, and you could confirm that, that would be great too.
It looks like that is a dust boot not a functional bellows. I have a 49 Buick with a similar pedal. You can also get Buick parts from Bob's Automobilia - http://bobsautomobilia.com/
My 52 appears not to have had one. I included a pic of mine. It looks like it would have fit in the floor like a grommet. Here's a link I found. It's the first thing listed. Appears it's function is to hide the ugly rod. http://www.profitautointeriors.com/productSearch.aspx?ukey_make=223&ukey_category=1978
