A friend of mine locally has acquired quite a few vintage vehicles over the past few years. Thought I would share some photos I took in the damp dreary dilapidated old building they are stored in. Hard to get any good photos of anything. Place always reminds me of the movie "Christine" where the kid rented storage space in that building to work on the car. Some nice stuff, and some rare stuff as well, lots of caddys.
Wow.. I'm so jealous right now!! I'd be more than happy to take any of them off his hands.. Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
I'd love the Caddy hearse with the huge landau bars! Reminds me of the one from the movie "The Warriors". Would make a good stalking vehicle, lol.
Love the '38 Ford Deluxe, and it would be a pleasure to hot rod that Jewett just to make the restorers cringe.
Nothing like seeing a bunch of nice cars hoarded and going to waste. Hopefully, they find a home with someone who'll put them on the street.
I have storage spach available in nice dry sunny phoenix az. Only catch is I get to drive one each week.
What a shame to see how they are being taken care of. Missing windows, and as you say in a damp building. Looks like a dust bomb exploded in there. Would be neat to see them cleaned up and better preserved or sold to someone who will.
Always cracks me up. So many people freak out when someone collects old cars and doesn't have a climate controled clean storage facility. Someone likes and buy and stores does not make them bad. It ok to be jealous. Get over it . When he dies they will all be for sale again and be better than a field car.
Thought that there was a up-side-down Hudson next to the Caddy in the last picture but it really is a bath tub. Really I'd like the Chavy fuel truck. Just think you could go cross country and back on one fill up if you could afford it. Thanks for sharing. LJ
What does your friend plan to do with these cars? Damp and dusty is not good for their preservation. Unfortunately, this looks like a hoarding situation.
A lot of these could be bought I'm guessing. He always seems to have a price in mind for them. Quite reasonable too if I remember correctly.
PM me if you want and I'll get you his phone number. These cars share space with a powder coating facility so that is the main reason for the extremely dusty conditions.
The fact is that they exist and have not been crushed. The owner has the right to collect as many as he wants, and to do whatever he wants with them. I don't see this as "going to waste". I see it as preservation. Could be a LOT worse, am I right?
