First off thanks to all that came out despite the cold weather. This was a first year to have the show in conjunction with the Detroit DragWay reunion at Milan DragWay. The prior location at Riverside Park in Ypsi was stunning, shade, grass, river, nearby bars and restaurants... but it lacked a certain excitement. The DragWay Reunion provided that in spades. We had a few glitches as is to be expected with any show in a new venue, but we'll have those worked out for next year and we'll even put in a request for better weather . Kevin Roberts brought his home built 1932 Ford Roadster up from Ohio and took home the Best of Show award (car pictured above). The stance and finish of this car was just stunning. Terry Roberts brought his 1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible and won Best Custom. This car was built by Joe Bailon in the 40's and ran at El Mirage. Still stunning today. Best Hot Rod went a snappy little Flathead powered Model A. Thanks to all that came out!!! The local clubs had a good showing at the new venue and we were glad to see them out enjoying the show and racing. Rudy and Dennis from AutoRama Extreme pulled gate duty all day. Melissa held down the Billetproof Tent in the wind and The Slot Rods provided the tunes. The Milan Staff did a great job with a TON of race cars and more than a few accidents on track. This backed up the racing for a while, but that can happen. Billetproof show cars got their pass down the track in the afternoon and there were more than a few first timers that are now hooked on drag racing as they looked over their time slips. cant wait for next year.
