    Thanks for the feedback. I can always swap back if I change my mind - it is all bolt in.

    I paid $70 for the tubing, and got the sheet metal for the brackets as a freebie offcut.

    Turned out great.

    If you want to plug the ends you might find some chrome bolt covers like they sell in motorcycle shops that have the same outside dimension as the inside dimension of your tubing..
