Im really thinking about chopping one more inch, from the guys that have one chopped this much do you regret it and why?
I haven't done it but just want to let you know I think it's perfect right where it is. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Do you intend to drive it much??? Hope your not over 4'-11" tall. I would be going the other way and adding inches to it.
I was going to say ,'' Do what you want.'' but there is a campaign on, saying ''don't say that. So I won't say that.
I hate to inform you that chopped vehicles have been deemed un-cool, therefore I have started an uncustomizing shop and will try and help to re-cool any un-cool cars. I have an opening next week if you want to make an apointment.
looks good where it's at. I have one at 6" (Tudor) and my new one (coupe) is only 4" chop. The 6 is cool but when I want to sell it that limits the folks that can drive it. I am only 5'7" so not a big deal for me. Look at my profile for pictures.
I was at Burnout and saw a guy in a nice rod with a rad chop. It looked really cool. EXCEPT, when the guy was inside driving out, he was hunched over like an armadillo. He didn't look cool at all. He was about 5'9". So, I'd sit in it and think about it for a while.
my coupe is chopped about that much. I also have it channeled though so its a tight squeeze. I honestly think it looks spot on like it is. Have you put the seat in yet? that will determine if you want more chop or not. Also remember that stop lights can be a real pain in the neck with a hard chop
"have one chopped this much do you regret it and why?" Why not chop it anymore? because it would look ridiculous. But this is the look some are looking for. Screw it up -- it's yours. "i've got the most-chopped coupe on the street!" Similar to . . . "My girl friend is fatter than yours!"
If you want to get creative and are up to some serious work, i'd have a look at Bobby Hiltons' model 'a'. It has similiar chop but the body has been section-added effectively raising the sills. You have the heavy roof chop but gained in the body depth for head clearance. Check it out on the hamb, something about 'hilton' and 'model a' as they did a build thread getting it ready for detroit.
Yeah big chops are stupid.....they look horrible...sooo uncomfortable.... I want my Model A to be like a new Lincoln..... Hot rods arent going to be as "comfortable" as some would like... If you want to.chop it chop it. This one is an 8inch chop. Looks awesome if you ask me..
sorry thatdidnt come out right. I ment I like the car how it is now and have no problem with plus sized women like some people may have.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^too much for me , but it isn't mine and I wouldn't buy it if it was for sale. Too old to bend over that much. A 4-4 1/2 inch chop would be ideal for me.
I have never once worried about selling my car in the future while building it. I could care less what anybody likes or dislikes. I build what I like and what I want to drive. And i agree about "shockrods"... I dont like them. My 28 sedan is chopped 4" now and i have put serious thought into another inch chop. Its all personal preference. And its just metal... It can be changed time and time again.
Looks good to me.... throw a drivetrain and a seat in that bitchin coupe and you can revisit this subject after you have put some miles on it.
I like a mild chop. But I hate sitting on the floor. I also like being able to see a green light without having to lay my head on the passenger seat. If That was my car I'd leave it alone. It looks good as is.
