Time to start posting a new project of mine. My goal is to build a prewar styled roadster pick up for around 3000.00. Cheap and super traditional is the idea. I have some body parts from unknown cars to make a body with. Feel free to tell me what you think they are!

Here is a pic of the cowl that sparked this idea. I have absolutely no idea what it is. Buick maybe? It is very flimsy at the moment and needs to be reinforced a bunch. Cost=$25@ swap meet.[IMG]

Here is the "ass end" of a giant 4 door touring car of some sort. Again I have no clue what it may be from. I would guess its from the teens. It is barely savable. Bullet holes, creases, folds, tears and dents. [email protected] and all. Total cost=$50[IMG]

And now the most expensive part. I bought a running 29 model A chassis from an old timer who bought the car when he was 14 years old. ( with a tudor body on it.) He said the banger was built by a machine shop in Fresno CA in 1963 and even gave me the tag from the shop! The car was driven for about 400miles and then parked in a barn until now. I paid 2100.00 bucks for it but I've seen em go cheaper. Regardless I was able to drive it off the trailer and she runs like a top, steers, brakes, and shifts like she should. Anybody know what wheels these are? They are 16" inch. I even got my wife to drive it! Frame costs=$2100. Total cost=$2165.00

I started to trim down the back of the car along with starting to build a structure for the body/cowl out of square tube.

Got a good start on the body today. A bunch of of welding tears and hammer and dollying dents and creases. Along with bending square tubing(usually in my lumber rack, vise, frame etc.)

That looks like fun but I think there are some Chevy truck guys who would give you a pretty good chunk of change for that bed and fenders that would allow you to buy some pieces of sheet metal to build a more correct looking vintage style bed and have enough change left over to do a number of things to the muttmobile.

It was decent, until you started on the bed. I think now it's starting to resemble a %$^ Rod. Just my opinon tho. Sell that on CL.There are other early beds available out there. Mike

As far as the Chevy bed being worth something, its not. 60's Chevy stepside beds are not very desirable and this one is beat up, the bottom was cut up for some 4wd tire clearance and had a couple gallons of Bondo in the fenders so I wasn't worried about it. I ended up sectioning the width of the bed 11 inches and taking 32 inches out of the length and 6 inches out of the height.
