Popped the top...liquid! Dried nicely on the stirring stick, guess I'll put it in the shaker for a good mixing and put it back on the shelf. Any other tips for preserving the paint? Folkstone Gray, wish it were a more exciting color.
Thinking about transferring it to a modern can and taping the label on, old can isnt in the best of shape.
If you change cans, fill the new one with marbles until the paint is up to the rim. This gets all of the air out and keeps the liquid from drying out.
I once found a partially filled quart can of lacquer I bought in 1971 that I had saved. Twenty years or more later I used it on a go cart and it turned out great. I guess as long as it seals good then it lasts for generations.
Even if had hardened, you can rejuvenate it with lacquer thinner! Can't do that with any type of enamel, though.
I've got about 100 pints and 25 or so quarts of factory pack lacquer that I have had stored since the early 70's and so far any that I have opened have been ok.
