go to you local battery shop, they will have a more powerfull gel-cell that size for around $100, I used one on a 300HP SBC and never failed to start the car with power left over

I use it for my 32 project. The size makes it fit behind the trunk interior .

PC680 is small, it'd be fine as a starter battery but if you have significant parasitic loads when the engine's off (alarm, stereo, etc.) then you'd better keep it on a float-chargerif it's parked more than a couple days.

PC925 does much better, but it's larger.

All of these are somewhat sensitive to charge voltage.

  9. I just recently put one of those in my 32 coupe. It starts the car fine, I can tell no difference in it and a large lead acid battery. But I have nothing but starting system and lights on the car and not enough time to determine if its a good idea. I have one of the larger ones, a pc925 in my 56 Chevy and its been there for a number of years with no issues at all. I even take it out and use it for my tractor at times also.
When it goes down, it charges up quickly.

  10. I put one in my 29 RPU in 2006 and it is still working great.
I also have the larger PC1200 in my 37 coupe with no problems

I've got one under the seat in my 32 laying on its side, only about 4 inches high. Has worked great so far. $100 and free shipping, couldn't beat it!

  15. Can you mount them any way like on their side or up on one end?

  16. Yes can be mounted laying down etc.

I have a PC925 in my '32 for about 4 years and it has been great - it starts a 10:1 compression 454 whether it's cold or hot, even after it's been sitting for 3 months.

It's mounted on it's side in a box under the passengers seat and I haven't had to touch it since it was installed.

It does have a battery cutoff switch, so when it's parked it is disconnected with no current drain.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like it is a good way to go. I like the idea of mounting it on its side under the seat. I hadn't thought of that!

I've got the PC680 in my 32 coupe. You can mount them anyway EXCEPT upside down. Turns my 318 Poly over fine and I've only got a 35 amp alternator. Have done 10000 miles with no probs.

I was wondering--with the PC 680 --It only has 170 CCA,so how is it say if you engine gets flooded or for some reason you have to turn the engine over more than on a normal start?
