Hot Rods UPDATE 35 Ford Flatback Garage Find

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 40Ford!!, Apr 14, 2013.

  1. ]Well, I posted a thread about a 35 Ford I found in an older woman's garage. Well I picked it up yesterday and its now resting in my garage. Wen i picked it up we got it running with just a little work. A little starting fluid and the flatly fired right up.... No smoke out the back either. I took it home and cleaned out the sediment bowl and drained the old nasty fuel and poured in a gallon of new fuel and she started right up! Took it for a spin around the neighborhood and then got a little bold and ventured on the road for a few miles. No problems! I was going to rebuild and clean the carb and dist. but since its running fine should I just leave it and wait and see? Breaks are fin and only pull to right a little. The horn makes a tiny noise but not working. Any suggestions here? It has two horns, one is the original bull horn the other is a dual mounted on the firewall. Neither work. Here are the pics. Enjoy!

  5. Ya I'm glad I listened to my HAMBers and moved on it. Thanks

  6. I like 35's, this one looks really nice.
Pull the brake drums off and check all the brakes before you go for any speed runs.
    Be SAFE!

Congratulations!! I don't see how you can possibly go wrong on that deal. I would have bought that in a heart beat even though my wife may have left me when I brought it home ;).

Horns are easy... Make a couple leads from your battery and locate the + and - posts on the horns.. Test them out that way.. It could be a simple ground issue... BUT--it's a horn--shouldn't require much trouble-shooting to make some racket.. :)

Here's my buddies 35 slant back. As you can see these cars are beautiful when you get the stance right.
