A good friend and fellow club member has had this car for years. It was owned by a local guy from the late 50's through late 90's and was a drag car for a lot of years, then a custom/drag car.

I have dozens of old photos from the 50's and 60's of the different phases of the car. I will post some of those pics when I have the chance to scan them, they are really cool old pics. I also have dozens of time slips from when it was being raced.

The black laquer paint has been on there since the early 60's, as has the white and pink interior. They are both in more than presentable condition, so I plan to drive it as is for a while.

My buddy needed to make some room and decided to sell the car. I couldn't pass it up, even though it will distract me slightly from my Willys project..........

It's funny looking at the car and seeing the mixture of things that it retained over the various stages of it's life. It has the custom interior, but still has a tach, line lock and an old Malory tuner, etc. Pretty funny.

My plans are to lower the back slightly to get it level, add full caps to the front and skirts on the back.

I'll post more pics soon, including the old ones.

It's my favorite part of the car for sure.

Funny, I had an appraisal done on it and the guy was like " Pretty nice car, but that interior is a little....dated." He hated the interior (street rodder type) I was like "That's the coolest part of the whole car!"

    Some people don't get it....

Glad you ended up with the coupe! At least we'll still get to enjoy it since it's not leaving the area!

a 50 year old black lacquer paint job that's still presentable?? Doesn't surprise me and yet lacquer gets a bad rap now days. I am painting my truck lacquer. Nice car. I always like old survivors like that, regardless of the brand. They have a one-of-a-kind history.

X3! MAN, that is TASTY! And that "appraiser" should be kneecapped. I'd skip the skirts and go for Fiesta caps all around and a decent rake. But then I am a hot rod guy.

  28. That "dated" interior is in amazing condition for its age and color. Perhaps it didn't see much road time over the years? (I don't recall seeing it around the metro area but I moved up and down the best coast for a while back then.....)

  29. Very Kool Ride. Enjoy!!!!

  30. Super cool! When I grow up, this is what I would love to have.

    Good for you man.

    Enjoy
