Some of these are extremely neat. Wouldnt mind finding one to put on a trailer and use. Another project.
....interesting thread; a few weeks back I posted this drawing I did on the Friday Art Show; thot you guys mite get a kick out of it.
This drawing was a variation of one I drew for a friend who was retiring from Commonwealth Edison (local electric co.)...he was also into old cars & trucks. His version had a guy sleepin in the cab with his feet up on the pass. side window with an alarm clock goin off on the dash. They had an electric coffee maker plug'd into a cord hot wired to a highline wire off a telephone pole,...did you notice the donut storage compartment door. ...I'll see if I can find that drawing.
Yep, looked carefully at all the details! Being a phone guy, I'm really diggin' it! Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
There's a real cool complete truck for sale for under $500 on Ebay right now but it's down in Georgia.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1954-Ford-F...alvage_Parts_Cars&hash=item3cd080c23e&vxp=mtr
I am still needing this part to complete the inside of my utility box, if anybody has one or knows the whereabouts of one for sale please let me know. Thanks
Digging up this old thread to see if anyone knows where to find more of these telephone utility beds. I currently have a1956 bed with the original vin tag but have some friends that want them too. Mine is almost completely rust free and is being converted into a work trailer. I know it's place is on a truck but this is what I have at the moment. Thanks in advance
You might try www.dodgepowerwagon.com Somebody on there was selling a really neat utility bed they were taking off a Power Wagon. You can post there or search their classifieds.
My 48 KB-1 pickup used to be a southwestern bell telephone truck based out of Joplin Missouri. Still has the patina letters and faint logos on both doors. You can see the logo pretty good on drivers side but if you zoom in on the passenger side you can see the logo and "Joplin MO" It didn't have the bed unfortunately.. The transportation museum in St. Louis gave this Mack telephone truck away for free. You just had to have a trailer big enough to haul it.
This is on Ebay.1954 Chevy $17,000.00 Not original Bell System Truck. http://www.ebay.com/itm/26139013311...l?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=261390133115&_rdc=1 And on web page. http://ska371.wix.com/chevypickup1954
Methinks he misplaced his decimal one point too far too the right. My '27 T Roadster build: www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t= 734383
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/dak/cto/4651017693.html this has been on CL lately, not mine. Recently, I got the bed Irondragon had planned on using with his extended cab F3, and plan on putting on one of my trucks, just don't exactly know which one yet. Old news, perhaps, but measurements are based on it being standard for a 6.5 ft bed replacement with a 34" wide frame. Approximately 39.5" from the front of it to the center of the wheel opening, 78" x 63" overall. mostly all 1/4" plate steel .... And it is heavy!
I'm sorry......but these two trucks are just way too frekn' cool...... ....and then............. .whoever built them..........definitely had some vision. Surely you may have started with some sideways glances from friends and family.........but damn.......who's digging them now?
