Everyone does not have a different idea of the build but the car is rare and believed that any non stock modification will decrease the potential value of it. Restore the 210 sell it ,make a ton. You can easily find another body to customize . Maybe even a TRI-FIVE .
http://www.chevroletrestorationworld.com/ the most reasonably priced place ive found they have a ton of stuff for the 53. also check ecklers ,
THANK YOU THAT LINK! In jus t few minutes I found quite a few parts for the 50 Belair we need. I have not done much on the 53 yet but inspect and try and get a handled on it. I really want to take a few things apart and see where I sit for now.
OK , but take the extra time to keep us HAMBers up to date with pictures of your projects . Your working on a 50 Belair .Blend your progress on that with the 53 project. Lots pictures , Hey this is entertainment ,knowledge, sportsmanship all in one ,''Wanting minds want to know.'' You help us ,we help you.
Yes there are actually 2 projects we are working on. Mike has the 50 Belair and I have the 53. Mike was actually the buddy that took me over to see the 53 that I purchased. I will get the HAMB informed and hope I can also learn from the forum, oh, I already have. I have been reading the posts here for over 4 years and learn something everytime I get on here. But as I said we are finishing a 64 Bentley:
have had many 53-54 cars, born in 54, have a 53 hard top now, belair...never seen a 210 hardtop...as said...keep the body stock...chop some thing else, and get top dallar for this one to build the next one...or sell it to me as is That car is a hell of a rare piece...are you paying attention?
I'd be interested in the build of the "50". I also have a "50" Bel-Aire HT. I dont think I'd do much customizing on the "53". Theres plenty sedans And coupes of those years to play with.
After looking at it, I'd say keep the two-tone scheme but go ahead with a 3" chop, bag it, and that SBC will make it pretty damn lively. Then once you've done that to the Bentley, we can discuss the '53 Chevy...
Nice find. Nice originals are really tough to find nowadays. Good luck with your project..............Mike
Hey mate, if you're thinking of changing grills to a corvette grill, i am seriously interested in your orginal grill teeth! i have been chasing them for a while now. Repop teeth are seriously expensive! Killer ride by the way! i have never seen a 210 53 like this before!
I'd drive the arse off it awhile before chopping it, personally. You might get to really like its stock look. Couldn't imagine they'd be common? It's your ride, tho. Have fun with it now, as was mentioned earlier, a chop can keep you off the road for a long time, and we are not turtles...
A '53 HT that was not chopped (at least at first), but still a stand-out, was the Barris built "Golden Galleon". The custom headlight rims on this car are incredible!
That is gorgeous!!! What headlights and taillights did he use? Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
The headlight rims were actually handmade from round rod, and in a class by themselves! Tail lights were frenched '56 Buick. You can see more about it on KUSTOMRAMA, including how it looks today. http://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=Mick_Tully%27s_1954_Chevrolet
Made his own headlight bezels.....what a boss!! I have thought about buick tail lights, but parkards are just way to sexy! Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
I was not really looking for a Hardtop to start with but it just ended up that way. Looking at all the stainless there is very little to do but polish, a lot of polishing. Ordered the Fatman IFS stage V to use the Ridetech Shockwaves for it. So this summer will be collecting parts and getting ready to remove the body from the frame. SOOooo looking forward to this project.
By the way, the seller also provided the 150 trim for the rear quarter panels. I will not be using the 150 trim it's in VERY GOOD condition, may end up selling that.
I plan to share as that is what this site is all about. And I will be asking plenty of questions in the future I am sure.
