I recently purchased a 1957 buick special 4dr hard top. It was my college instructors car and ive always loved it and he finally cut me a very good deal on it. I was wondering if anybody has pictures of fender skirts installed on a 57 so I can see if I like them enough to purchase a set. Thanks in advance. Any other ideas everybody can think of as well that I can do i will appreciate as well.

Great looking car! Just my opinion, but I don't think fender skirts would go with the look of this car...

sweet ride, my pompa used to drag a 57 buick. he was just telling me on easter all about it....my opinion, skirts would look good if u were to slam or tail drag, but they look kinda silly at stock height.

The rear wheel arches are what make these cars soo cool...nothing else like it.

If you post a pic in the Photoshop thread, someone would be happy to show you what it'd look like, that's an easy Photoshop to do, although I agree with others that said I like the full wheel arches on the '57 Buick.

Wide whitewalls would look real nice on this car (there's a couple methods of making them if you can't afford a new set) and maybe a mild lowering. They don't need much, and the 4 door hardtop roofline is really pretty.

    Nice car!

Definitely don't do skirts. You can see why everyone says the '57 Buick has beautiful wheel openings that shouldn't be hidden by skirts.

But since you asked for suggestions, mine would be to get it a correct set of whitewalls in a 2.5" or 2.75" width. After that, lower it appropriately and cruise the wheels off it!

Nice Buick, no skirts. Lower it and maybe a little pinstripping and drive it.

Agreed! No skirts on these cars...Buick was doing something unique with their wide arched openings...why hide it!!

I've always been a fan of the smaller Specials and Centurys, more so than the senior series cars. Just always liked the roof design.

Good luck with your new acquisition!

That's the first one I've seen with a white steering wheel since I sold my 57 back in 64. It was black/w red insert in trim and black and white interior.

I think they are coils on all four corners, does anyone make a shorter coil for those??
Glad you changed your mind on the skirts. Lowered a couple inches would be cool though.

Yep, that is absolutely a no skirts car.

Your popularity with your circle of rodder friends will go up now as you will become the designated driver for the bunch with that car to ride in. Once they get a ride in that back seat it's a done deal from then on.

It is coils all the way around. Its got a nova subframe on the front and c10 trailing arms in the rear along with a chevy 10 bolt. From the outside of the car you cannot tell its modernized i love it, small block 350 with a turbo 400. I want to lower it (within reason) and white walls.

I got a few more pictures of it today. Spent some time and polished the chrome and cleaned up the interior. I finally got a little sun today for some decent pictures.
