post up what youve done. ive looked threw some pages and seen a couple good ones out there. thought it would be a good idea to see them all in one place. just some ideas i think would be good to post on here. 1. how to flip or reverse leaf springs. 2. how to drop an axle 3. best way to weld on these axles including wire type, how much heat is to much? should you temper the metal? stuff like that 4. or just plain making one from scratch. tublar or beam. let it all out and post what youve done. i will be posting my own axle here in a few weeks. its a 53 chevy truck axle with a disc brake conversion. will be removing the old spring mounting plates and welding new ones on the bottom side of the axle. basically flipping the axle from the bottom side of the leafs to the top side. gaining roughly 2-3 inches of drop.
definately watching, i just bought a car that needs a straight axle and i dont just want to buy a kit
Check out Nostalgia Sid's website. They can do things with axles that I didn't even know were possible: http://www.droppedaxles.com/index.html
well technically solid axle. ive found an econoline that im planning on taking the front suspension from but a tube axle is still an option
