Go back to 1954 and buy a Cadillac convert then go find
    Norma Jeane Mortenson...age 28
    and/or
    Vera Jayne Palmer...age 21.
Bettie Page would have been 31

Car wise 1970.Great time to buy all the unsold Dodge Daytonas that were not selling at dealerships.

  2. Don't forget Candy Barr!,,she would have been 19. HRP

I think about this all the time, but its not the cars I'd bring back, its the events I'd want to witness. Le Mans 1921, Indy 500 1967, Times GP 1963, Pikes Peak 1963, First lap of the 1967 Stardust Can-Am, April 24, 1960 Alton Ill., just to name a few...

November 22, 1963 Dallas TX. Go to largest Chevrolet Dealership at 8:00 AM sharp. Score a end of the year '63 409 loaded to the hilt Impala. Then go to the grassy knoll and make the supreme effort to change the course of history.

Every '32-34 Ford I could get my hands on, same with any Dusenberg, Pierce Arrow, Cord or Willy's (etc). Same with any 69-72 Muscle car, but specifically 'Cuda convertibles or Dodge Super Bee's.

Almost ^ ALL of that would be worth the megabucks today. But I'd love to have them in my collection, thats for sure.

Guess I'd go back and tell my father not to sell that Dusenberg for $300 before he went off to WWII. Too late & my ex would have it anyway. There's a thought, go back and tell Joe "Don't marry that bitch!" What a plan, where can I get a time machine? Joe H

A '64 Galaxie 390 4-speed, '46-'48 Ford convertible v8, '57 airbox 'vette, '64 Buick Skylark, '53 F-100, '62 Catalina, '64/'65 Falcon Sprint, '55 Pontiac, Yenko Stinger Corvair, '70-'72 GS, '55/'56 Thunderbird, anything AMC, '54 'vette, '66 Caprice 427 4-speed, '67 Buick Riviera, '55 Plymouth v8, or my Pa's '63 Catalina with 421, automatic, and power everything.

  18. Acouple of things come to my mind on this back in time wish bit. I would like to go back and tell my dad I want to keep his 49 Merc woodie and his 51 Ford woodie wagons both were way to cool. Plus I would pick up a 32 3 window while I was back there. Then I think I would just stay there and hang out. Screw todays world, times were so much better back in the fiftys.....I know I was there.

    1972 - I'd buy that 427 SC Cobra for $6000 I couldn't swing at the time.
or maybe 1970 and keep the 427 Vette I sold for $4000.

I would go back to 1963 the year I turned 16. I would then save and store every old car that I actually owned. During the years 1980-1993 I had a partner and we thought it was our job to find every old car possible, buy it and then sell it to some Hot Rod Nut at a profit. In those years Paul and I probably bought and sold around 200 old cars.
40 Willys Sedan, 36 Ford Coupe, 39 and 40 Olds Coupe, 34 Chevy Truck, 2 46-48 Chevy Sedan Deliveries, 63 Nova SS, 36 Chevy Sedan and these are just a few.....
My private purchases were Chevrolet, 39 Chevy 2-dr Sedan (put in a 283 and Glide at age 17) 66 Impala SS, 72 Split Bumper RS Camaro, 76 Chevelle Laguna, 35 Chevy 3 Window Coupe, 38 Chevy Coupe, 38 Chevy Cabriolet, 38 Chevy Sedan, 26 Chevy Touring and two 48 Anglias
This is only a portion of my memories and they are Damn Good Memories.....Jeff

  21. I'd buy my first car again but this time new instead of 6 years old..

    1966 GTO tri-power, 4 speed.

I'd buy one of those Superbirds that were in the back lot because no one wanted a purple car with a big ugly wing, and who could afford the gas to keep a four speed Hemi on the road. Or maybe last years Ferrarri race cars Enzo scrapped because it wasn't worth the cost to ship back to Italy.

I think I'd go back to 1956, Portland ,Ore. I remember the car lots on Union Av. were full of mid 30's to late 40's cars. Almost all were under $200.00, I bought a '42 Ford bus.cp.
for $120 and a '41 Cad. convert for $195.00. Both cars were clean drivers only needing minor repair work.

I'd go back to when my dad and uncles had their own private shop they called "The Hulk House" and give them all the money they needed to retire and fix up all their old cars and drive them around.

I would find Ryan's parents and break the news-- They were going to have a child who would become a crazed cult leader. Then I would drive off in a Lincoln Zephyr for my girlfriend.

Hmm....REASONABLE choices huh? Of course I would love to go back and buy just about everything...Cobras, Duesenbergs, Corvettes, Impalas, Chargers, Catalinas, Bel-Airs, etc....5 of each...but that is not in the spirit of this thread.

I do have a few however that do fit on my short list:

    3 Model T's: 1909, 1915 and 1926.
All of these cars were $850, $440 and $240 respectively. The '09 is the start of it all, the '26 is the end (and I like the body style) ....the '15..well, it was cheap enough and I like them too :D

    1930 or '31 Cadillac V-16 452-A:
Priced at $7,000 respectfully, these Cadillac's offer smooth effortless power, clean lines and stylish bodies.....for about a 3rd the cost of a SJ Duesenberg.

    1941 Lincoln Continental:
Classy lines, decent price. Edsel's creation was (imho) at it's peak in 1940 and '41 for styling and for just $1,360 msrp.....why the hell not :D

    1946-48 Ford Woody Wagon:
My Dad and his buddies bought one for $25 at a local police auction and had great times cruising the drive-ins on summer nights in it....well, what was left of it at least. It was also the first car my dad ever painted...in my grandparents garage. It was bright yellow.....got overspray everywhere. I always loved that story and the car.

    1956 Cadillac Series 62 coupe:
Clean lines and all around timeless styling .....and a sweet deal at $4,150

    1962 Pontiac Catalina 421SD:
    .....Need I say more? :D

1965 Ford Falcon Sprint (Coupe and Convert):
with just 2,806 and 300 built respectfully....one of each is a must have for any Falcon lover. An alternate would be a Futura Convert (non-sprint) with buckets....only 124 of those left the factory.

Last but not least.....the '66 GT-350 my grandfather bought new in Dec. 1966......for $3,779.49

I might even attempt to special order one of each with a K-code engine.
