I drug home an old 50's survivor A sedan hot rod

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Mar 21, 2013.

  1. It's not that hot Rodded, but it just screams 1958. Story is two brothers lived in California and bought this A in 1960. It was already this bitchin purple and had the white top and running board covers. They drove up here to Spokane to attend College. After college they ended up staying here, and the car was put into dry storage in 1970.
I heard about it from a mutual friend and had to check it out. It just oozes with cool. This is the kind of car I love- old, clean survivor. I think the paint will clean up pretty nice, I'm gonna try to blend the few primer spots. I dunno what I'm gonna do with it, but it was too cool to pass up. First things first- I gotta get it running and go through the brakes. All running gear is stock Model A. It already has hydraulic brakes, so it may get a dropped axle and a T rear spring along with big and littles. Interior is tattered but not bad. Needs a little wiring and other odds and ends, but one of the straitest, driest A's I've seen in a long time! Even every piece of glass is good!

I just LOVE the paint on this thing. I'm gonna be screwin with this thing over the next few weeks, I'll post photos and such as I go. Enjoy:

Just a thought, when it comes time to "modernize" consider a 4cyl w/ 5sp. I have a 2.3 in a 30 mordoor (stock appearing) is a great street and touring car. will run at 70 and get mid 20's mpg!

    Sweet find! Congrats!

I have a question about the brakes, though. Isn't that backing plate on upside down? How would it ever bleed right with the bleeder screw at the bottom like that?

Chris's concept of "modernizing" would be to put a B motor and 39 trans in it. That's as "modern" as he gets.

Nice find Chris. That would even make some Model A clubber a nice parade car/cruiser.

That is one sweet find. Darn near a crime to change anything at all on it, tempting as it may be. Time capsules don't surface too often. Go through the brakes and related saftey items, & enjoy!
