Very nice work! Do you have anymore detail on moveing the gas tank for the exhaust? I am about to do the same thing on my 52. Are you running the pipes over or under the rear end? Looks very tight in there as is mine. Would like to see how you have done it.

  6. Got the door bottom on...

Put the door back on the car for a test fit before I finish folding the door skin all the way over. The lower rear corner needs a little fine tuning before it's all done...

  7. Thanks alot guys!! :D

  8. Thanks guys! :D

  9. I went to NAPA and got a longer piece of fuel filler hose that connects the filler neck to the fuel tank. I didn't get the exhaust run all the way out the back because I knew I'd be taking it all apart and redoing the motor mounts/headers. When it comes time for the exhaust, I'll drop it off at the exhaust shop and let them handle it :)

    Awesome metal work!

  11. On to the quarter panel! I cut out the rusted, pin holed, warped junk...

The inner wheel well lip was rusted out...big surprise there...

Fabbed up a repair piece for it...

    All better...

Cleaned up the surface rust and soaked it all down in some undercoating before covering it up...

Slapped on a quarter repair panel from EMS...I thought it was a little pricey when I bought it, but it actually fit! Any repair panel that fits well is priceless to me.

The fender above the wheel well was rusted out as well...

Yup, the inner structure was too...

    Repair piece made...

    All better...

    Soaked in undercoating as well...

Fabbed up an outer fender repair piece...

I'd like to have the option of running the original fender skirts so I made sure everything would fit and line up nice once I'm done putting it all back together...

    Getting closer...

It still needs some work but I'd had enough fun by this point...

Rolled it outside and blew the dust off. It's getting there...slowly...to slowly! :D

  12. I grabbed the grinder and took a sneak peek at the passenger side quarter panel. It's gonna need the same lower/front section replaced but doesn't look like I'll need to do above the wheel well....woohoo! :D

    Subscribed. Your work is awesome!

  15. Looks great Dan! Are you bringing this one to Jalopyrama this year?

  16. I'm pretty certain I've sent back more patch panels than I've actually installed! EMS gets a thumbs up on the Chevy quarter patches from me :D

Thanks! Now if I could just focus all my work on one project maybe I'd have a completed car by now

Thanks! With my current schedule I highly (make that HIGHLY) doubt it will be done in time for the Jalopyrama...maybe Jalopyrama 2035 :rolleyes:

Your '52 already looks a 100% better with the changes. Your doing some very nice work on the '52. Mine has almost as much bodywork and patching as yours. Checkout my photo album on my profile page. I'm working on a '52 Fleetline Chevy's make for cool cruisers. :D

    What happened with this one??

  22. What? It's only been 4 years since the last update  :D

The '52 has spent the last couple years sitting in the barn. However, I dragged it home a few weeks ago and have been making some progress. I plan to keep plugging away at it until it's done, painted, and back on the road.

I'm thinking it'll look good in that lighter green they've been putting on the newer Fiat's. Wheels painted to match the interior which will be a tan/saddle color. We'll see how long the motivation holds out...

    And the progress...

Passenger side rocker and quarter needed replaced. Whoever did the last repair must have been a pro, they stuffed the BLUE shop towels in it...

    Quarter tacked on...

    Finished...

    Rocker done...

Stripped the passenger side door and blasted the bottom. Luckily, it was in a lot better shape than the driver side. Just a small patch...

And one spot on the door bottom...

Small bad spot in rear window channel repaired...

Trunk floor "U section" and tailpan were rusted out. Making a new trunk floor section...

    Hey, it fits!...

    New piece for the tailpan...

Checking the contour with the splash pan...

    Both sides tacked in....

    Double checking splash pan fit...

Check back in another 4 years :p

  24. Keep going, Dan - you have gone too far to quit now! Besides, you are doing some really nice work here !

  25. Green like money :D

It's kind of a '50's - ish looking color I think. And light enough to stay clean looking and hide my poor bondo slinging skills...

If I recall correctly, Chevy had a similar color to that in the early '50's.....my brother had a business coupe in that Chevy color
