Thanks A F. It was originally built by General Gow (Mark Phelan). I have some thoughts of my own to upgrade it in the powertrain department (pic). Hope to have it ready for the RoG trials in May.

    Stan-
Looks like you found yourself a very cool engine! I think what you are doing now is way better than buying the 8BA for it. Looking forward to meeting in October. Keep the updates comming.

Thanks, the engine is thought that it was built to be run on the salt flats. It was in ID for over 50 years. It was built in the late 50's and went thru two owners who passed without starting it. The prior (3rd) owner took it to a machine shop who went thru it; checked all the tollerances, and replaced all the assembly lube with fresh stuff. Here is what the machine shop and PO was able to determine (BTW, they had NO recommendations as to changes).

Modified Ford Model B engine, diamond block marked "51"
    Wieland finned alum head
rebuilt distributor with updated points and plug wires
    rebuilt fuel pump
    enlarged bore with new pistons
    enlarged 1.80 intake valves
heavy duty valve springs; adjustable lifters

    modified ¾ race cam
    new babbitt bearings
    Gemsa finned alum valve cover
    ported intake and exhaust
oil pressure to main and cam bearings
    reground crank with new bearings
    new starter
    new clutch and pressure plate
    balanced rotating assembly
Model B tranny with synchro gears
head adapted to 36 ford water pump with new pump.
pressurized oil system - cold start-75# hot idle-25#

I sourced a Burns dual carb intake and a dual exhaust manifold (manufacturer unknown); dual Stromberg 81's and the prior owner included a Wico magneto.
I'm hoping to get it all together for May 4th! Run it in Asubry park on the beach for the RoG trials.

  7. Stanley, as soon as I chop that roadster in my garage... I'll be ready for your engine placement! Can't wait!!!

I'd say about three weeks to be safe. I have one finally week of bar design, then I'm back in garage. Onto the roadster, then onto your roadster. Thanks for being patient.

  8. YO, get down here!!!

  9. We find out today if we can move forward officially with the May 4th date. Keep yo posted peoples...

  15. Andy, that looks sick!!! Lets see a profile. It looks like my 29 kinda. I'm still toying with what to do with my nose. Had almost the same thoughts. I was also looking for a 27 roadster and couldn't find.

Hey Mel any word on the May 4th gig ?

  18. Injector boys, We have gotten a green light for the May 4th date. But... The beach in Asbury Park does not look like it will serve us well. It has been years since I've done a stand still show but we are hoping to use this date for a car show bike show on the boardwalk. On the north end of the convention center.

There are no businesses there. This is the spot where Boardwalk Empire had hoped to shoot their series but moved to the Brooklyn ship yards instead.

I had wanted to do an indoor show in the convention center like the Haulin Gents use to do. There seems to be a war at the moment with the partners whom control it, and Asbury Park though. So we'll see what goes down. I'll keep you all posted!

  19. Get them race cars ready though! I have something big for you all!

I just need to choose a good date and proceed. This spring or summer, not sure yet.

Do you all need more time for building then the May 4th date? I'm sure it will be later. I just have to look at some calendars and make sure we pick a good weekend as not to coincide with another antique swap or killer show.

I will figure it soon!!! Stay tuned...

Sorry about the beach Mel. Very happy about the date though. Gives us more time to get the cars ready.

DD, I don't know if I'll have my '31 Tudor banger together by then, but I'm gonna try!
