There used to be a fine old Asian gentleman that operated a sheet metal shop at the corner of 12th and Clarke in Vancouver. Had the name of the business lettered on the side of the building and on the door of his truck, nice and neat. Name of the business? Hang Wang Sheetmetal. And no, I did not make this up. Just try to imagine "The Hang Wang Roadster".
I dont name cars or motorcycles but I have a 1942 Harley with the WWII fighter plane sharks mouth and eyes and EVERYONE who has seen it calls it the Landshark.
Ok then lets have a rule. If someone else names your car and it sticks..... well then it sticks. But you as the owner may not refer to it as that. Thats like talking in the third person. Under noo circumstances is one allowed to "self-gloss" or to self aggrandize if you will. "Self glossing" is a pretty "delta-bravo" aka "douchebag" thing to do. Kooks are everywhere though.
before I got married, I spent couple of weeks in Suzhou with a woman I had met while she was over here teaching a course at BCIT. She was a quality control manager for a company that made equipment for the oil industry, and took me for a brief tour of the factory. There were several Dong Feng (translates as South Truck) trucks parked there, and I mentioned what "Dong" meant in English. For the remainder of the trip, every time a Dong Feng passed us, she would say "p*nis truck" with her Mandarin accent and we would both crack up laughing. The cabbies thought we were nuts.
Sometimes when on the phone, to someone I haven't talked to for a while, i'll identify myself as Studebaker John, because it's easy and quick. But that would be different.
Is the theme song playing in anyone else's head while they're reading this thread or is it just me.......
How can you be proud about building something that's just a copy of someone elses ideas? I know we all get ideas from other's work, but just a straight copy? That's a buzz kill. Maybe if I had a more Johnson like Johnson I'd understrand...
Acording to the Department of Redundancy Department, that should be "The '32 Deuce Roadster Roadster".
