Can a front cover from an engine with F.I. have the fuel pump hole opened up and used with a pump? 85 302.

Plus you'll have to install the fuel pump eccentric on the cam if you can.

Why bother with it? There are lots of older covers out there, new they are $80.

Why not just run an electric fuel pump? Or as stated an old cover... and old cam

Yes you can make it work, you can also use a front sump pan and dipstick by drilling it.Ford used two styles of eccentric and you need to match the eccentric to your timing set and the locator pin in the camshaft, then you are good to go.

  9. The cover that I used was off a 83 that had throttle body efi.

i just did all this. you CAN use that cover. Yes you can open up the fuel pump hole and mount a mechanical pump. yes you can drill the cover to take a dipstick. if your using a double roller timing set with the short pin in the cam, you need the 2 piece fuel pump eccentric. if your using the old style single timing chain, you need the one piece eccentric and the longer pin in the camshaft.
